Up for Discussion
Updaters Here at DoR, members perform their own character updates. If someone doesn't want to do their own updates, they can 'hire' another member to update their character for them. The updating member will be rewarded with 200 exp per thread update for a character. You cannot be an updater if an updater updates you!
As an updater, I found that I was doing daily updates on the same thread or even just an SL Calculation or TXP gathering. 200 exp a day seemed a bit excessive for updating the same thread daily. And not charging for the SL Calculation or TXP gathering was a bit off. So here are some of my suggestions.
1. All updates are worth 100 exp (for each day or for just a single thread or for a single SL calculation)
2. A sliding scale at the end of the thread if you update them daily 200 exp x 1.x (x= number of days updated) Any other calculation like txp gathering or SL are a flat 200 exp. -Example: Thread A has been updated for 5 days. At the end of the thread the updater gets 300exp (200 x 1.5) -Example: Character A needs a single thread updated. Updater gets 200 exp. (was not updated daily)

Right god help me but I'm starting the filter of " discussed suggestions" so that once we've filtered out the shit ones we can place the small bits of gold on the Shindows update thread before November. So. Discuss your ideas for site improvement and stuff. So I suppose I might as well start this off with Noah's idea. Which I thought had the potiental for gold. For those that don't know what I'm talking about allow me.
Noah wrote:
Training System [ Student & Teacher ] Things have gotten hard, and with some people not remembering much before the Dawn, guides or teachers are needed to help get them back to the status that they once were. This is where an individual who which to learn and surpass their limits seek out an individual that could help them along the way, put them through strenuous training and teach them things that they normally wouldn't learn from anywhere else. Alot of effort is needed between both individuals, but in the long run pays off for the student. A Teacher can be sought out through a quest with various requirements, or could even be someone that the person knows. Some teachers require large payments for their services.
NPCC Masters A Sensei sought out through a long quest. These are individuals that are rumored to be the best of the best at what they do, and don't just accept any students under their wings. It must be those who have gone through so much to merely impress them and display their worth to the masters. With succeeding in a quest to obtain these individuals as Sensei's, various bonuses are granted to the student. Requirement: » Must have a SL below 80 » None of the Base stats can be above Abnormal » Must have below 150 HP and 150 Stamina » Must do a Quest to seek out Master » Must do another quest to impress the Master (Different from the first) » Both quests completion must be approved by another NPCC asides from the NPCC that rped the quest with the member. (Note: Cannot be a Site NPC unless approved by Shin, which it most likely wont) Bonuses: » Exp[Not TExp] gained from threads [Dedicated to Training between the Sensei and Student] are increased by 50% [x1.5] » Have a Choice of gaining 5 free techniques -Or- 1 New technique Package » 25% reduction of training requirements for Affinity Packages increases to 50% [Only applies to utilizing words from threads that are Dedicated to Training between the sensei and student] » Can gain 1 Extra TEXP per day by meeting the requirement * Must Post at least 5 times a day with Sensei (That is played by an NPCC)*
Members Through Rping, a Member can obtain another member as a possible Sensei, whether they know them through various events or actually good friends. Everyone possess knowledge that can be of use to others, and so gaining them as Sensei's and training with them will gradually develop an individual...only when training with them. Requirement: » Must have a SL above 15 » Sensei Must have a SL above 80 (Note: Can only have one Sensei at a time, and must note when the sensei changes) Bonuses: » Exp[Not TExp] gained from threads [That are between the Sensei and Student] are increased by 10% [x1.1] » Exp[Not TExp] gained from threads [Dedicated to Training between the Sensei and Student] are increased by 20% [x1.2] » Techniques within a certain package that both Sensei and Student possess are reduced by 10% for the student when training the techniques [Only applies to words from threads that are Dedicated to Training between the sensei and student]
Now for my point on this, I believe that its a good idea but it does need some refining. For example I believe the bonuses to exp are too high, and make the Oni racial bonus rather redundant. Also 5 free techniques seem a bit much. Perhaps a better way might be that each master has 5 techniques, similar to the tech lists on H2H that are only learnable via the master. Also on the PC to PC point. Packages training discounts, whilst this may seem like a good idea in theory one must remember that although the techniques are in the same package the techniques involved and the uses of them might be completely different. (EX) Shadow Package, Jack: Blood Magic, Yuki: Wolfy Darkness. Same goes with sword techniques. Just because you are training using the same weapon doesn't mean that you'll learn anything if the style of fighting is different.
On that note, I suggest that be replaced with the ability for the student to learn techniques FROM the master at a discounted price. >_> Thats about it for me after waking up. Might think of something later.

Ok it sounds like a good idea.... but for some clarification on the NPCC account.
Noah wrote:
» Exp[Not TExp] gained from threads [Dedicated to Training between the Sensei and Student] are increased by 50% [x1.5]
- Is this only for the Player or for the NPCC as well? Since this seems like it would be a long time for the NPCC to be dedicating to a single rp. - Especially with this next portion, NPCC is already agreeing to at least two quests.
Noah wrote:
» Must do a Quest to seek out Master » Must do another quest to impress the Master (Different from the first) » Both quests completion must be approved by another NPCC asides from the NPCC that rped the quest with the member.
*Perhaps with all of this should be knocked down a little bit to a single quest. *Get rid of the approval by the second NPCC unless the NPCC gets extra than normal exp. Its a bit much.
Noah wrote:
» Have a Choice of gaining 5 free techniques -Or- 1 New technique Package
- A bit much unless you are planning on spending a few months IRL time doing the rping. Since most other quests or advantages only give 1 free tech or package. - This goes back up the NPCC time spent on this single rp. If you as the player are going to request this much time spent on an rp and get so much extra from it, should the NPCC not get extra? *Perhaps the extra should be 1 Free Tech out of the package you are learning with the Sensei per training session
Noah wrote:

-Again a bit much especially if you are not training in your affinity package with him. Clarification needed or gotten rid of entirely.
Noah wrote:

- Is this only the player having to post 5 times. Because most NPCCs have their own characters they are trying to post with at least five times a day in order to get TXP for that character. Asking a lot otherwise from an NPCC who only gets the exp from their own word count. *This should be clarified or taken out completely.
That's it for the NPCC portion of it.

I disagree with this idea for the sake of the fact that it is not needed. I'm already Rune and Sera's 'sensei' without needing bells and whistles to increase EXP/TEXP on either side. The way the site is, there's really no reason to need to accelerate EXP faster by doing an RP that fits into your particular character's storyline; this 'training' aspect should be a part of a person's storyline which gives you EXP either way. There doesn't seem to be a need to add a bonus to role-playing in this particular way. If anything, this seems like it should be a life path, since it's rewards don't seem to fit the category of a 'quest spoil.' Words like 'dedicated rps' and stacking bonuses seem to yell 'checkpoints' and 'PWC.'

Maybe we could have a Master/Apprentice set of paths that gives you PWC from being in threads with your partner?
For masters, the reward could be an additional 25% off the stamina of a techniques that you have taught your student.
For the students, the reward could be a refund of 25% of the experience that you spent learning your master's technique.
Since the Master and Apprentice would have to be in pairs, this eliminates the need for an NPCC. It could probably go like
Checkpoint 1: Declare master or student, depending on role Checkpoint 2: Reward for 2 techniques Checkpoint 3: Reward for 3 techniques Checkpoint 4: Reward for 5 techniques Checkpoint ~: Reward for 1 technique
