It'd make more sense for Ash to just save stamina if the plant's no longer there. Why would he still be attacking it?

| When you leave it open ended like that it's assumed that it's up to the player to flesh out whatever it is that was left open ended. Well, at least every time I've encountered things that were left without full explanation, it's always been a "have fun" with it sort of thing where you decide the rest.
Your post didn't say anything about them other than that they were NPCs, so it's just as plausible that it'd be humanoids just as much as beasts.

| See that's what I originally thought but he made it sound like there would be very few diagrams in the books, but if I can't even tell that the book is on a particular subject, he would just be overwhelmed and not know what to look at in order to even get to see a diagram, so unless there are scrolls on the table or something then he'd end up leaving. Especially if it's a study from H2H timeframe b/c they would n't have much on military strategy b/c there was no military. So making it filled with only ancient stuff turned it into a "dead room". Oh wells... guess I'll just mosey on upstairs to find something.

| stun doesnt do any damage since it doesn't have any damage you are flying now, so have fun with gargoyles. I was attacked once by you after I made it up there, and used common sense and a large estate to evade it.
"She didn't target his head with the next wave of chill, but instead targeted the spot she suspected his body would be." Can I get a clarification on this? "where she suspected his body would be" automatically means that whether or not I move, she would auto-aim to hit me. Since I moved backwards ten feet, this would still not hit from her standing position on the ground to me up on the roof, ten feet back.
for that technique to work, it has to go through the wall next to you, through the floor of the second story, up through the insulated ceiling, then to hit me where you might suspect me being. All while instantly freezing anything in its path and not loosing any speed, all while homing in on my exactp osition of "where you suspect my body to be" even though you can't see anything going on up there.

I disagree. Generally people aim to hit other people, yes. A head is attached to the body. I'm not sure where anyone's going to get modern insulation in a post-apocalyptic world, but none of that matters. I settled it with an evasion roll according to the site mechanics, which are for situations like this. According to your stats, you weren't fast enough to move any distance out of the way, including, but not limited to, ten feet. If it makes you feel better, you can say it hit his head. Everything's fair to everyone this way.

| So if your following the site rules then looking at Iskra's bio starting from the 5/24 when the rp in question started. All Techs are listed as (Pending Approval) and after checking the tech Approval list. Frostbite hasn't been Approved yet do to the wording of the tech in which Shin just states that the tech needs to have AOE in the effect or the wording needs to be changed. So following the rules Iskra doesn't have any techs that are attacks at the time of 5/24 and there by voids any dmg done.

| Hm, checked that one myself. Its difficult to discern. All Iskras techniques were accepted on the 23rd, since the rp started on the 24th she was free to use those. Frostbite however seems like a technique thats in purgatory. Although it doesn't say approved. Shin's point seems more like a suggestion than an outright denial. The technique uses singular terms such as "target" as opposed to " targets". So AOE seems a bit of a pointless addition. Whether or not it actually was accepted however is down to Shin.As is the resolution of this matter.
And the fact that this is the weekend will likely indicate he won't be showing up to resolve this matter post haste

| Eri, check it again. In Shin's response he's the one that said to change it to "on", not "near". So her technique is approved and correct, no violation there.
In the end he can either take the meat from Iskra's attack, or take the meat from both Jack and I. Either way he's taking a hefty serving of meat.

I could be wrong though. He said I needed to change "near" to "on", which I did. "Pending approval" is a cosmetic thing; I didn't have to put that there. They were approved on the 23rd before the quest began. But if you were hypothetically right and it was only partially approved, since I already spent the EXP learning and training it I'd just have to wait on the completely approved version to know how the attack came out. It's just simple damage aimed at a person a couple dozen feet away, so the result would probably be the same.

| Currently the technique is not approved.
There is a suggestion from Shin on how the technique would be made better, but this suggestion was not acknowledged in any way. Ultimately, Mariko is the one who decides what she wants her technique to do, not Shin. She could decide not to go the AOE route and move to something different such at the wording change, but since Mariko never posted 'okay that will work' or 'I'll change the wording' it means that neither suggestion was confirmed. Currently there's no board indication on how the technique really works.
The effect of the technique in question is not clarified and does not have "approved" stamped with it. There are no gray areas. You will know when a technique is ready for use and for training when it is marked 'approved.' Personally, I wouldn't suggest leveling an technique that hasn't been approved since the requirements are based on the effects. The reason is simple: her current technique was not approved how it was. If she takes Shin's suggestion and adds AOE then the cost changes from 3750 to 5626; this would also mean that she doesn't have the SP for leaning the tech (SP: 50 | Trained: 563 Honed: 1125 Mastered: 1688 Perfected: 2250 = 5626).
Members cannot assume she's going to take suggestion 2 over suggestion 1, so for that purpose everything must be clearly stated, thus is the purpose of the approval process.
Also, a point of interest is that you'll notice that the technique in question was put in for approval on 5/20. Her bio update including the technique that was requested then was time stamped at 5/18. This means that the technique for her bio looks like it was added before it was requested for approval. As odd as this may seem it just illustrates the fact that so long as you don't post after a post you're editing, your posts won't show a time stamp when you edited it. Barely mentionable is in similar fashion, she did not post after her 5/21 update until 5/25; meaning that changes could have been made in that time period. I don't think this is the case here, however, just something to stay aware of when dealing with these issues.
As for the attack hitting the calculations for his demise are based on S Proj. From what I understood in his post, he was above a two story height. It would be safe to assume that mansions have higher ceilings than houses or apartment (8 ft to 10 ft) meaning there's a greater chance that someone flying above a mansion from ground level is over 20 ft then not. This would change the equation to use H Proj instead of S Proj and adjust Ash's ability to evade accordingly. I personally don't think that the math needs to be done on this, since member's shouldn't be using non approved techniques at perfected timestamped updated before the technique was requested (revert to paragraph 3 for reasons).
There's some iffiness about whether he's in the line of sight and how well something can be aimed outside of a line of sight. Given the fact that the ceiling and walls are covered in vines and roots, there's also the question of 'can magic pass through another creature' more or less 'can magic pass through walls without that being some type of special effect.' The answer will probably be 'no' based on 1) how Shin is, and 2) the fact that "No spells generate "at the target." Energy must flow from caster to user even if it's invisible (i.e. Psionics, Status Effects)." Even if the spell isn't energy, a person's magical influence is passed to creature the phenomena in this manner. Shin has pointed out to us that techniques do not have effects beyond what's listed on the Wall of Effects. If a technique doesn't say that it can bypass solid structures, then it should be assumed that it cannot.
Aside from all of that, if the unapproved technique did somehow manage to hit Ash, it will be notable that the calculations for his damage are wrong. The 7.5 doesn't take into account the +2 HP stroll (site mechanics) that you receive per non active posts. Ash had one post where he was about to use an attack and warned the demons to move; additionally he had another attack negated by Shin after that meaning that it was not used. This means, he has at least +4 HP when combined with Mariko's calculations puts him at 11.5, meaning that though close to passing out, technically he doesn't have to.
Oh, and no one's pointed this out, but Jack doesn't have the current transformation, he's got the +1 to all stats.
I'll stop here and take any and all questions now and clarify any misunderstandings about the site and its systems across all boards to assure everything is fair.

However, I do not accept the reasoning, "I move out of the way because I can and I don't have to justify how I can move out of the way in time other than insisting that I can move out of the way or that you're a bad shot." Because the wording on his argument implied that he moved from leaning over the roof looking down to 10 feet out of the way BEFORE I did the attack. That's like me saying, "I move 10 feet out of the way of your punch after you posted doing the punch but before you aimed to punch, because clearly you'd still be aiming for the area I -was- at a long while ago instead of the area I am at." If you instead are reasonable and say "I try to dodge your punch," then that makes it "evasion" and the evasion rules come into effect. I don't mind missing, I just want to miss for valid reasons. "I'm actually 10 feet further back than I clearly stated I was" isn't a valid reason. He said himself that he was leaning over the edge of the roof looking down at us, so obviously he was in line of sight. Shin said that the plant fell through the hole in the ground, so I assume the vines and whatever else are gone as well. Since Ashurei is standing on the roof, specifically the edge of it looking down, the walls don't come into play either. I'm not sure how good of a shield a few shingles are against the cold, but if all it takes is a few shingles to completely null and void a magic technique, I'll pick up three IC and just carry them around in case someone wants to use magic. As for the timestamp, the effective timestamp is the 22nd, not the 18th, because that's when I posted the refreshed version of the bio, and I assume we're going by "time stamp on the bio" instead of "time stamp on notes about threads between updates". I wouldn't expect anyone to use such notes as a marker of what they can and cannot do since the rules say "version of your bio" and not "current list of updates to do". But yea, I misinterpreted what Shin said to mean that the word "near" was the only thing problematic about the technique. Adding an AoE would defeat the entire purpose, which is why I put "on", and since Ash still has HP from that 2% thing, it doesn't matter if it hit or miss anyways. Finally, if Shin meant two floors then he should have said "floors" instead of "stories", because a story can be interpreted as a unit of height. But thanks for pointing that out and I'll go ahead and get that technique fixed.

| You're welcome.
So I suppose we'll have to wait on Ash to see if he wants to confirm that you have this technique (i.e. asking Shin if a tech has to be stated approved to be approved) before it can be moved onto the point of where he was, what he was doing and how he will respond.
On the semantics, I've yet to see a house that had a different number of floors than stories, so I'm interested in why one wouldn't consider them the same; but that part doesn't really matter here. It's just that stories come in varying heights depending on your source, that's why I put 8ft to 10ft because when I researched there were different measurements among residential and commercial (not feasible in this case but existent) story measurements.

| I looked over the edge. I dont know how you lean, but standing at the edge of something and leaning at a 45 degree angle are two completely different things. Since techniques move at a linear direction, if you aimed it at my body, even taking a step backwards would cause it to miss me. Based on the assumption that a normal technique without an AOE would be smaller than the AOE level 1 size, right?
so much stuff to read.. reading all of it now, I'll make another post as soon as I'm finished with this conference call.
