“Remember....nothing is wrong...”
A giggle, a laugh. A whimper. Act like a human, that ha been his first lesson in this game of life, to work and look like a normal employee, to give off the impression that there was nothing wrong with him. That there wasn’t an infection settling loose in his mind. That there wasn’’t madness, a ghost in his brain which knocked on a door not there. That there wasn’t a shadow staring at him in the mirror. He crawled in the dark and something told him, something whispered of his own decay. That something had happened that had taken everything form him, but had also freed him. To reverse the decay. He needed to remember what he had forgotten.
of course doing this meant that he had also to dive into that ocean of madness that contained everything that he needed. Days had long passed but he needed those memories even if it meant exposing himself to that...darkness. He laughed once again as he lost himself in that sea. A man without a life raft. As the beauty and terror of it. Engulfed him entirely.

Day 24: 12:37pm
Things had gotten. Out of hand last night. And he blamed Shiori entirely.
His fist snapped into the next movement of a punch combo of a sandbag. He had escorted the boss to a night out, technically there as her date. Although he had a feeling that he was being used more as arm candy. Something to show off. He didn’t like it. Regardless he had met some interesting people. One of which had been one of Shiori’s former associates. It seemed to him that there was no one in this town that hadn’t seen his bosses bedpost. And it made him feel, disgruntled. About the feelings that he was apparently developing for her. His fellow bodyguard had guilted him into going back outside but really he didn’t want to. He had wanted to leave her there to wallow in her own self irrespective of what she wanted. But he had gone back out and then she had kind of...zoned out. It was annoying. Anyways things might have got heated and itwas all over her and her past. But it had given him a stark warning if nothing else. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to face his trainer. “ You seem distracted...what you thinkin?”. He shrugged.
” Second hand goods tend to come with problems”

So after a laugh about the status of relationships between him and his trainer he was set to work on breaking into a set of circuit training. It was a simple enough thing that was going to be used at the start of every training shift to build stamina and endurance. Considering that up till now his primary focus had been magic and mages were known for their er...squishiness in physical combat. Well this was probably the best for him. The circuit consisted of core exercises along with strength exercises to improve the power of strikes and binding techniques.. Once that was done and he was so covered in sweat that one could have mistaken him for someone who had climbed out of a pool. They began to work on self defence. First of all things seemed to focus on grips, holds and throws. “In our business you’ll find that the larger number of opponents are going to be using fire arms of short range melee weapons, which makes countering their techniques and locking up their attacks all the more important...you chose wisely in the martial arts class you started taking it’ll help a lot with the training I’m going to be giving you....”. He reached down into a blue footlocker and pulled out a bright red plastic firearm. “ This is just a dummy but it weighs as much as the real thing....when facing weapons like fire arms or knives its important to know how to get them to a disarmed position where they are no longer a threat to yourself, don’t get me wrong striking techniques are fine and dandy when you are against another unarmed opponent...but its a different story in this case”.

“ Really but what about all thos-“. The instructor stopped him right there. “ Movies?...yeah its bullshit...flying kicks and punches aren’t going to do much when a 9mm hollow point smashes through your skull at the rate of-“. Penny stopped him there. “ Yeah I get your point bullet beats punch like rock beats scissors”/ A nod all round and an agreement on that fact. Since Penny had already been taking classes in martial arts thus far he was better off in this training than a rank amateur would be. Still by comparison to his instructor he didn’t hold shit. They first went over basic movements, the primary rule of this kind of combat wasn’t get the strongest grip but breaking an opponents balance. The moment balance was knocked off momentum took hold and helped with all and any of the techniques in question. It was a fundamental building point of all techniques.

“ You’ve got an advantage in this little game in that you have a greater strength than other races....this means you’ll be faster allowing you to close the distance, and strong enough to break them, throw them....but regardless of your strength you first have to build up enough technique, without technique you won’t have anything”.
..Rocking back and forth arms around his legs, he spoke the words from the memories, embraced in the calming abyss...”Without technique...you won’t have anything”. These were important words that would have came to shape a lot. It applied not only to his fighting but a variety of other things as well....a lesson well learned
Working on technique seemed to compose most of the next few hours. Taking each attack step by step getting the basics over and done with. What his instructor explained to him was more or less the same thing his Judo Sensei had said. Becoming a master of the arts a dan grade maant becoming a master of the basics. Each technique thereafter could be moulded into your own.

Several Days Later
" Good good, keep it up".
The instructors words were begining to sound a bit like something on a tape recorder, but irrespectively the man had gotten his job done, in a short period of time Penny had went from knowing virutally nothing about martial arts to becoming one of the strongest hand to hand fighters on this world. And that wasn't an easy thing to boast. Although at the same time he kind of thanked the powers of the crystal forest in Onitoshi for this. A place where time moved slower. Where the Hogasha of new would train. The simple fact that they had allowed him access to the forest indicated that those beings at least saw some potiental in him. Was it because he learned to survive so quickly or was it the will that lay behind it. He couldn't quite decide. Regardless today had been little more than weight training. Bnech presses with increasing incriments of weights. Heavy lift low rep, rest then start again. It was all a rather tiresome excersise at times.
" Thats enough".
Said the instructor, once he had finished lifting the bar into place he sat up and looked around. Night time. Likely the bald dude would be heading off soon. " You gonna stay for a bit?". The instructor enquired. Penny nodded. " Alright. I'll leave you the keys. Lock up when your done".

He stood next to the window shirt off looking out at the city and wondering just how much of this place would remain if people like the division didn’t exist. Shiori had once told him that her family had long acted like the bridging intermediary between spirits and humans. Course that could have all just been bullshit but it was still something to think about. Just how would this world do, would it become a hot bed of demons that would reduce this city to a burning pile of ash within weeks? Or Would it be some kind of central hub for the divine and infernal? A place that brought all together in peace love an- Nah he knew his own kind far too much for it to be anything like that. He knew that he was one of the rare Oni that wasn’t inherently evil. Well evil as in evil evil. He still had his shades of dark, but for the most part he existed in a middle realm. A place that was grey.

Yup he knew his own kind alright, and when Shiori had jumped over the proverbial fence of neutrality onto the side of demon hunters well she had went ahead and made herself some enemies which most humans wouldn’t really want to have. But hey that was her for you didn’t much think about anything in the face of love. Well love or obsession one or the other. He pulled a cigarette out of a packet and then lit it up staring into the night. He had his own gym at the pent house but he probably would wait till the morning to use that. Curiosity hit the cat as he spotted the next weeks training schedule lying open near a bench. Strolling over and taking a little sneak peak he saw that it was kind of enhancing on his current physical training. Sneaking, intimidation and stealth tactics. Lovely. No doubt that would come in handy down south too.
“ Oh well, may as well get the cool down over and done with....”
One last draw on his cigarette and Penny stubbed the thing out and tossed it in a waste bin. He moved over to the skipping ropes and picked them up. Few minutes of skipping some core exercises and he would be ready for quitting. And so it began building up the sweat but at a slower pace. Getting his body ready for the rest. Was never good to just go from straight up hyper muscle tension to just...nothing. Muscles stiffened and enhanced the decay. Not that it would much matter but it helped avoid strains and injuries.
Tomorrow was going to be interesting. H was sure of that much.

Out of the ocean again, memories of that night, writing and staring in a mirror of his own eyes. The man in the black and in the white. Looking ever at him locked in his own reality. Trapped. Trapped. Choking on dirt. A mummer. A laugh. Now he remembered to fight. Memories of what he was taught. To kill with his hands. A requirement. A need. A hunger. Many words filled his mind. Dangerous words that whispered through and left their mark. The words grew louder as the memories once more stirred below the surface. No more could he stand it no more could he assume the guise of falseness. The mask was slipping and slowly. He was falling back in.
“ Too soon, “
He would whisper to himself. Surrounded by walls that trapped and saw. These walls had eyes and mouths’ and they spoke of his own memory. Of his guilty deeds and actions, and of the dirt he tried to use in covering them up. Cover them up. “ That’s...what came next”. Spoke the mad man.
