Horizon of Hunger [ Part 1]

Ever since that little event with Iskra and the eggs Jack had been thinking, thinking. Thinking far too much. Iskra wasn't like the usual demons although she shared some qualities that were unrevokable due to the taint that flowed through her veins there were distinct differences between her and others that made it obvious the she did not reign from hell. It was a case of nature and nuture it seemed. Raised on Terra. Breaking those natural boundaries that Oni didn't cross. She had taken those eggs, for the short of it raising them effectively as her own and taking them into her own Clan. If it had been Jack or indeed any other Oni those eggs would have beeen left were they lay to die. Or depending on the Oni in question eaten Regardless it was on this note that he thought whilst continuing his journey of conquering the lands of hell. Iskra seemed oddly accepting. Most demons would at most only tolerate blood kin. Or some kind of kin, like pyche demons and others of their own type. Not related through blood but by nature. Yet, she was accepting any and all. Whether this blend of culture and society in her clan would benefit or hinder her. Jack had yet to see. but none the less it was an interesting concept. Despite them both being allies for the moment. Jacks ideals on things seemed to differ from hers.

Jack believed that he would need to keep his own clan for the most part. In charge. Whilst his influence extended out over fear, Sltoh and Rage. Then below that the other demons on his lands that had decided to bend to his whim.

He was no longer conducting the raids on foriegn lands on his own, rather. Whilst Sloth and Fear were acting as a useful defensive force, he was using rage precisely the way they were supposed to be used, shcok troops. Defense breakers. Attackers. And they were doing that task very well, and with gusto. The lastest raid was deeper into the null plains. It wasn't precisely difficult to push into them after all they were for the most part simply empty plains of dust and ash or the odd bubbling pit of lava. Still there were som demons who were for the most part not all that enthused with the idea of one single demon lord taking over all this land. They fought and they fought hard, however they were always crushed in the end. Rage may not have been effective as organised defenders but they certainly were good at breaking the moral of opponents. Constantly charging forward no matter the injury.

The next area, the one he was currently invading with rage, was mostly down to the natureal resources of the area. Whilst Jack wasn't interested in natural resources for trading. There came a difference when it brought baout the possible use for arms. Not far away from this area in the palce he had taken with Iskra he had dicovered deposits of volcanic glass. Obsidian. There shards were razor sharp. And hard. Jonah had informed him that these black glass deposits could be used to make weapons.

Despite how well everything had been going for him up till now with Rage constantly pushing out on his borders. There were things that required his constant attention at the moment. That being. New problems. Old source. The Glutton seemed to be on the ground level of hell once again. The way he knew was simple. Lately his scouts had been reporting unusual. Levels of cannibalism. Unusual in that, Demons. Although normally taking time out of their day to devour the felsh of their fellows. Tended not to do so in such a horrible way. Usually it was one on one. The way things were lookng. It was Multiple demons all trying to eat each other, whilst fighting. That was an oddity in itself. A usually it was eat after fighting and yet, here it was. A horror the likes of which hell hadn't seen before. Rising up from the ashes and bringing with it hunger. Gluttony. THis had been making taking lands on the null plains slightly more difficult. Rage instead of encountering a shakey defence were now facing berserkers almost the likes of them. But instead of berserk with rage these demons were berserk with hunger. And Jack was begining to see a horrible pattern emerging.

It wasn't merely just the threat of the Glutton that was bothering him. Rather the ramifications of the hungers effect on other demons. They were seen devouring each other and as they did so they would get stronger and stronger. And that meant only one thing.

The Glutton. An abomination among pysche demons. Although some represented their portion of the human sin pysche. The Glutton was consumed by it. And so in consumed by its hunger. It consumed others. And so did its hunger. A glutton was created by one demon whose hunger for power became part of them. Thus they devoured their kind in an attempt to gain power. So that consuming became a life style whilst this was horrible Jack had come to realise that in reality it was merely the first of the dominos to be tipped. When the hunger infected other demons they had no choice but to devour all in their path.For those who survived. This would ulitmately result in them gaining power. Following this lifestyle. They would eventually develop themselves into a seperate glutton. For now, he would keep thesethoughts to himself. Merely pressing outwards as he could, and keeping a track of the Glutton as best he could. But. There was no way he could keep it a secret forever. Jonah wasn't stupid. He would probably catch on as well soon. If he hadn't already.

At this stage, Jack was tired. But as the main scout for the rage forces came in, a member of fear no less. ( For rage and fear seemed to work hand in hand) and reported another piece of the plain had been taken without issue. He let out a deep sigh of relief. But that was before the reports of cannibalism among the men. His eyes glinted. And he headed out towards the camp.
