Name: Taran ap Rhys Description: The Son of Rhys is around 5'8" and lithe, dressing in neutral and dark colors for a dappling effect, allowing him to blend more easily with the shadows he plies his trade from. When "on the job," he wears a grinning oni-mask to further obscure his identity...not that anyone who sees the mask lives for long. When his face is not obscured, it is largely unremarkable, as are all his features, from his brown hair (of middling length, usually tied into a short topknot that allows the bangs to fall forward and frame his face) to his small frame.
The only exception (and the thing people remember most about him if pressed) are his eyes, which are a strangely bright golden-brown, often compared to an eagle. People often feel raked by his gaze, as though he is not just seeing them, but seeing them, reading their every merit and flaw, measuring them both physically and spiritually. To many, it is a frightening experience to have another strip their social occlusion away and see them for who and what they truly are...but remain completely indifferent. Base Race: Human Sub Race: Human Affinity: Movement » Themes: -Battle: Apocalyptica - Overkill from MAG: S.V.E.R. Transportation: There is no place in existence Taran cannot walk to. He is well seasoned in the art of traveling, however, and is capable of riding an animal if haste is required...assuming he could get away with stealing a horse.

Character NotesTaran is...cold. Distant. To those who do not know him and do not attempt to penetrate his uncaring exterior, Taran seems to be the perfect killer, a complete sociopath. When he is not wearing his mask, his face is nearly as inhuman, the only emotions seen to flash across his face being frustration at a plan gone awry or anger and hatred towards those who have wronged him. Most often, his piercing eyes evince vast indifference towards the world and its inhabitants.
But this is not the true face of the Son of Rhys. Yes, he is calculating and distant and yes, he is indifferent to most of the world, but to those who take the time to reach him, to speak with him for long hours and understand his psyche, Taran is a vastly troubled young man, one whose training tells him one thing, while his heart tells him another. His training tells him that personal attachment is a liability, to be purged from his being with haste, that having friends slows him down. His instincts tell him that he should protect the weak from the strong and that allies and comrades in arms are the most valuable assets he can gain towards that end. His training tells him that his greatest weapon is the fear his targets feel knowing he tracks them. His instincts tell him that striking unexpectedly from a decentralized command structure can cause an entire civilization to collapse from a single death. His training tells him that those who stand between him and his target should be eliminated with prejudice. His instincts tell him that innocents should never be harmed save in the most dire of situations and that worthy opponents should be offered a chance to stand with him for the greater good.
It is these conflicts that have driven him from his original home deep in the territory of the Animal Men and to the Village of the Moon, where he hopes to create his own Brotherhood of Assassins, one that serves the good of the people rather than the pockets of the highest-ranking officials. He has advertised his presence quietly, careful to avoid attracting the attention of his old clan, who would kill him in an instant if they believed he was "setting up a rival op." In time, perhaps he can eliminate them or absorb them peacefully, but for now he must consolidate his position and prepare quietly.

Hello! Sooth recommended I check you guys out, so I did, looks interesting. I'm definitely sold on this concept as well, but I'm always open to criticism and, if I messed up some formatting along the way or misunderstood something, point it out and I'll get right on it. One note, I'm not really sure what type of Pathway Taran would follow, Military seems too upfront (An army of assassins? I think not) but Political seems disingenuous ("Oh yes, I'm all about diplomacy." *STAB*). Thoughts? P.S. That avatar.....well, it's from an artist on deviantart and, while I have requested that he allow me to use it for my avy, I haven't heard back yet. If it doesn't work out, I'll replace it but, as you can see, the feeling of the piece really matches the feel of the character (and I had most of that physical description typed out before I found that picture).

| Oh hey there, welcome to the site =) Everything looks cool. You don't have to worry about the artist's permission if you don't want to, nobody here really cares, but if you care then that's something I can admire. X3 I've never asked an artist for permission a day in my life and... Oh! *clears throat* As for life path, why not create a guild? It'd be a guild of assassins, right? | |

| Technique idea (this is where those go, correct?)
Whooping Crane Method (Movement, BAL Stg1) Taran has always been fascinated by nature's specialists. By studying their movement, he has begun to understand motion from the precarious perspective of a crane. Effect: Balance-based tech. Based off of level.
