Under New Management Part 6 [Land Claim]

Rage.

To describe it seems to be like describing fire. Yet, as simplistic as that metaphor for it seems and as often as it is used one can't help but think that it does seem the best way to describe it. The first conclusion is that, rage. Is not anger. Anger itself can be controlled. And most people will control it. Rage however. Cannot be. Like a fire rage will spread till it has consumed every part of its host. It is what happens when anger becomes violent. What happens when anger cannot be controlled. Its at that point it steps over the line. And becomes rage. Fire itself, has no feelings. No ill will towards what it burns. But it will burn it. Rage is much like this in retrospect. In getting to the source of their rage, a person will often abandon inhibitions and strike out at those in their way who try to stop them. Even if later on after losing this rage. They feel terrible. Rage demons were known as the lowest ranking demons in the pysche family. Yet naturally people assumed that because of this they were weak. That of course, could not be more wrong. Rage demosn were not ranked so because of their level of power, but rather because their in ability to control their rage made it so that they could not do anything to further their clan, or indeed interact with any of the others beyond mindless killing. To Jack. These demons were merely one step above the Glutton in terms of abomination.

Better, but only slightly. Still it was this one step abov ethat made the clans fo fear and sloth go out in an attempt to recruit the help of the rage clan in hunting down and defeating the gluitton. It was strange and rather bemusing that currently, rage was the only clan whose numbers had not been at their lowest in years. Jack himself had killed the members of Pride. Fear and Sloth had splinterings of their members over the decision to ally with pride ( of the splintered off members who were then subsequently killed by the demon of gluttony). Desire was a complete white wash. Or. Blood wash. After all Jack had single handedly killed the entire clan. Madness was killed off mostly by Pride during their little conflict. However the mechinations of Ceila had made it possible. The numbers of Rage made them just oo much of a viable weapon against the glutton for Jonah to ignore for long. So, he had sent emissaries from fear and Sloth out to the lands of rage. And as expected. They had nto returned.

So, this is where todays story begins. Jack is sat in the seat of pride, upon hsi sesnses a white hot warming of the blood occurs. He senses the taint within another demon, two. Other demons approach. They are powerful. Jonah and Gerren. Naturally. Of the two as always, Jonah seemed the more reserved. Odd considering that he was the leader of the fear Clan. " Its been two weeks". Spoke Jonah. Jack looked up, face passiv, uncaring. Bored even. " Two weeks since what?". Jonah's brow furrowed. An odd look for the man.

" Since we sent our ambassadors to Rage, we've not ehard word back from them, nor recieved any messages that give tidings, good or bad". Jack shrugged. " Well...I told you so". That didn't much seem like the response that Jonah or Gerren wanted, this time the female spoke up. " Jack, we have not asked you for much, you have taken from us, but not shown anything in kind, this time we ask you". He clenched her fist and brought it to her face. " Help us bring war to the lands of Rage". This, was interesting. So much so that it caused Jack to shift to a more active position within his throne. Listening now more intently. " Bring war to rage?...I thought you wanted them as allies not wiped off the face of the udnerworld". Jonah shrugged. " She si right Jack, but its not just about revenge for our ambassadors. You yourself had said that rage demons only know violence. If this is true, then the only way to get them on our side is to-". Jack then interupted. " Beat them to within an inch of their lives and then claim dominance over them...yes I see where that would work...I suppose it also fits into my plans of taking land...". Jonah nodded, it seemed that the Master of Fear had already gauged this much. " Very well then". Said Jack. " Gather the forces, let us march on Rage".

It didnt take long to assemble. Leaving some behind to guard current lands whilst leading the rest in towards rage. The first few skirmishes were basic. The rage demons were more berserkers. Effective shock troops but little else. In the face of tactics and powerful magic they broke on the tides. Slowly but steadily. Jack and the others began to move into rage territory. Taking lands and leaving markers and patrols as they went. Heading slowly towards the heartlands of the rage clan. For the msot part Jack seemed to be deploying the Sloth members as vanguard troops. An inital front line of defense, whilst during breaks in the enemy line. Fear would rush in. He found that the members of fear contrary to popular belief to be rather effective attackers. They jumped in seeminly without fear, slicing the members of Rage to pieces before them. As for Jack himself. He took the place of artillary. Jacks main abilities involved magic. Destorying enemies from a distance using his high powered area of effect magic. It seemed that with this power, he was driving the forces forward. And yet, no matter how many of them they killed mroe seemed to stand and take their place. The rage demons didn't seem to be effected by the normal battle field control of morale.
