Hallowed Grounds Lethebanner3
..Hallowed Grounds
..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......It seemed like for the past few weeks that common sense was at a premium. That was the opinion of Lethe, anyway. For the past several weeks the village guard had received numerous complains about other worldly activity. The young warrior himself wasn't much of a believer in such nonsense, at least in regards to the gods many of the village's people believed in. All of the complaints they received originated about a set of ruins within the forest, a remnant of a time past. The structure in question was one Lethe was familiar with himself, as he'd gone there several times as a new village child to get away from it all. Back then it didn't seem so scary, at least not to him, and he never ran into any true problems outside of the occasional snake or other wild creature.

......But, here he was receiving an assignment to check the place out, all because people let their imaginations get the better of them. He hadn't actually been ordered to do so yet, but he knew it was coming. His captain was beside him, dealing with a frantic child and mother who continuously vividly described the so called haunting they'd experienced. If it were Lethe he'd ask them what they were doing in a place so far out of town, but he decided that it wasn't his place to do that. So, he sat in silence as the guard captain did his best to calm the woman down. Lethe could only think how stupid the woman was, while his superior ensured her everything was going to be okay, and a unit would be sent to investigate.

......The woman and child left, and the captain turned around and began to speak. "You don't have to say it, sir." Lethe spoke up before the man began, closing his eyes and shaking his head slowly, "I know what you're going to say. I'll check it out." The captains expression shifted from the annoyance it'd had dealing with the woman to resignation at the situation. Even he didn't like sending a unit away for no reason, "Ah, thank you. The complaints have all been similar, though. Probably some band of miscreants, or perhaps a loner playing some cruel joke. At any rate, try to get to the bottom of it all, will you?"

......Lethe nodded sternly, "Without question.", and left the village, making his way towards those hallowed grounds.

PostSubject: Re: Hallowed Grounds   Hallowed Grounds EmptyFri May 20, 2011 10:04 am

What exactly was it that terrified these people so? This haunting as they call it was something that was difficult to believe for any person not so well versed with the other realms and not many these days were. Ever since the arrival of 'The Dawn' not many people were. It was something long forgotten, but slowly being recovered by particular people capable of seeing such things, though to themselves they probably wouldn't be able to notice that it is a spiritual phenomena. There had been a rumor floating about for several days now, it had to be too much of a coincidence that more than one person shared the same story. The tale of a ghost! Least that is how they say it, some say it's a remnant before The Dawn, but you know how silly humans get with their stories, but in all of these rumors there was one thing that could be placed in the common bin of all the incidents. It's been reported of a woman in a red hood traveling about this particular area. Her appearance though held no pattern, though most of her appearances had been during the day times. With this recent incident though it was probably a bit too far of a action for this particular 'ghost'.

Zaiaku, an onikonjou, had been wandering amongst the hallowed ground's for several days. No really reason, least no real reason known to the humans, her own reason had been entirely to come into interaction with the realm outside her home. Once living down in the place that had been once known as 'Hell', she had no clue how she arrived to Terra Ragnum though. No idea of her existence, she just knew when she arrived here she couldn't interact with anything, merely floating about as if she was in a state between existence and non-existence. "I've been looking for my basket..." was one of her repeated lines that scared off most of the humans that had seen her. She'd float around these 'Hollowed grounds' searching for a brown basket. [color=red]"I have to get to Grandma's house and deliver it, I can't find my basket." Another of her lines as she would say to those few that seen her, sometimes she'd even fly towards them and right through them. Though to these human's it would only be short moments where she did physically interact with the physical realm, but then just disappeared. She had been training to leave a sort of physical impression on this world. It was rather tough, though after today's incident she had gotten it quite down. She scared the child and mother half to death, grabbing the childs face and gazing right into his eyes as she would hiss out "Grandma would love this face, can I have it?" Terrifying the mother and the child, given that Zaiaku had lifted the child off the ground before she had disappeared and dropped the child and they ran off. Though here she was now sitting high at the top of the ruin's gazing out.

"Oh my, what a big dawn you are..." she said to no one in particular as she stared off into the distance.

Hallowed Grounds Lethebanner3
..Hallowed Grounds
..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......The crisp morning dew that coated the blades of grass crunched beneath the young man's feet as he progressed through the forest. Through the canopy of dense leaves and brush, the light of the pink and blue morning sky poked through whatever openings it was able to escape from. The result was a rather interesting display of pink beams of curious light descending on to the forest floor below, decorating it with a sporadic splash of color. Up to this point Lethe had grumbled to himself several times about the absurdity of it all. It wasn't so much the fact that he was being sent out to the ruins to investigate, but the time of the day. He'd just finished night patrol and right at the end of his shift he was forced to go on an extended recon mission. How bothersome.

......Someone actually claiming to have fallen victim to an apparitions tricks was, in truth, no surprise to him. After all, he'd seen them himself for nearly as long as he could remember. When he was a boy he'd been nearly killed by a pack of wild animals along with the rest of his family, and by the grace of whatever gods there may be was saved by the Village of the Moon. He'd been gravely injured, bleeding profusely from an abdomen wound sustain from the fangs of two of the beasts, and nearly bled out. He was bandaged and cared for by the people, and was bed ridden for weeks. The actual wounds themselves weren't much of a thread, as they were going to heal in time, but the unsanitary conditions at the time left him with infection.

......There was one point in that time that he was near death, hanging on to life by a mere string. He'd become comatose for weeks, and even though he wasn't consciously aware of what was happening, his subconscious had some resignation of death. It was in his dreams, however, that his life would be saved. To this day he isn't sure what it meant, but the only thing he remembers from those comatose days are vivid visions of a woman. She was pale, wore blue garments, and spoke with a voice as smooth as the finest silk. She assured him of his survival, telling him she was to save him. He spent what seemed like days talking to her until he suddenly awoke. The infection had cleared nearly as quickly as it had set on, and for all intents and purposes he was cured.

......The actual content of those conversations now eluded him, having dulled from his memory only a few hours after he awoke. He was only left with the lingering thoughts of what happened, and two rather extraordinary ability. The first was the ability to harness ice, something he discovered days after the fact, and the second was the most useful of them all: he was able to see spirits. It wasn't anything he ever spoke of with anyone else, nor was it an ability he would have sought to be broadcast to everyone. So, he mostly just kept to himself about it, making note of whatever he saw. If one thing was certain, if there was an apparition haunting the ruins he'd see it.

......Lethe made the rest of the journey in a rather uneventful manner, and the moment he saw the tall broken tower of the ruins he was rather joyed that he'd finally have something interesting to take his attention. Without any hesitation at all, the long haired samurai stepped into the territory, his eyes darting about the area, looking for signs of whatever it was people had seen.

"These beings call me something..." she said to herself, she only had her own company so there was no one else to speak to given that the ones that did come, no longer came anymore. She scared them off pretty darn good. Upon her fair dark skin, her lips stretched as she held a crooked smile. She stood up from sitting and stared down at the ground, the smile still didn't disappear. Gazing off as she let out a little chuckle. "Little Red Riding Hood?" she stated as she turned around and stood at the very edge. Her arm's stretched out as she closed her eyes and leaned her head back. The wind began to pick up as she began to suddenly laugh loudly. Her voice trailing around the area and traveling with the wind. Her laugh was nothing sane. "AH HA HA HA HA..." Probably she wasn't sane to begin with, but who really is when they can't even remember where they came from? As she laughed though she just allowed her body to fall back, already standing at the edge of the building's roof top, she fell. Laughing all the way down, though halfway down she would disappear from site. Least to those who were incapable of seeing spirits naturally. To those who can see spirits they could see a red cloaked figure falling down rapidly. She would fall all the way down until she would disappear passing through the very ground itself, if she wasn't stopped by anyone that can interact with spiritual entities that is.

Hallowed Grounds Lethebanner3
..Hallowed Grounds
..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......Lethe cursed under his breath as he traversed the hard terrain of the forest ruins. It seemed like every step he took was either on uneven ground, or ground littered with debris or another form of bothersome litter. Whatever it was that had completely eradicated people before the radiant dawn had better have been an awe inspiring force. Otherwise a structure falling to ruin in such a severe degree was simply horrible architectural design. The young man continued to grumble to himself, malcontent with the situation he found himself in, until he heard a loud maniacal laughter fill the air.

The voice was female, that much he could tell, and it's origin was in this very area. His amber eyes rose from the ground and locked in on the ruins, scanning the area as he continued to walk. He wasn't sure what was more disturbing, the fact that a woman potentially made her home in a place like this, or how psychotic the expression seemed to be. There was an eerie chill in the area to the area, one that Lethe had felt before when he'd been around spirits. All indications were telling him that the stories these people were telling - however frantic they may have been at the time - were true.

Ever alert, Lethe rounded the corner, coming to what seemed like a large courtyard, where his gaze was immediately driven to a red cloaked figure at the very top of it all. What in the hell were they doing up there? Without warning, though, Lethe's question became invalid as the person jumped from where they were, falling towards the ground with the red hood flapping in the wind like some sort of suicidal bird.

Lethe took off in a dead sprint towards where the figure was falling. His long strides and powerful push offs made him faster than most other humans, and he was upon the area in a matter of seconds. The individual was still falling, but in an area that was within arms reach. With a deep sigh of resignation, Lethe rushed by as they fall within area of his grasp, seeking to catch the person. He knew it'd hurt, as the force of someone falling that far would surely break a bone or two of them both if they weighed that much. Oh well, he'd just have to curse at himself later.

Her falling action into the ground had been interrupted, something that was completely unexpected to the Onikonjou. Though they must have been a fool to go to catch something that was in mid-free fall. The pain that would come along with it would be great, not life threatening, just very painful. Her original plan being just to fall into the ground and then fly back up before making another round at looking for her hand basket. Though with this interruption Zaiaku's fall had been halted as she felt herself come in contact with something, which to her was strange as she should have simply went right through whatever had gotten in her way. Unaware that there were beings of this realm, Terra Ragnum, that was able to interact with spirits such as herself. It was difficult to understand given that she never met such people before, well she technically has, but it was of a time she cannot remember. Well her body had been caught and surely they both hit the ground pretty hard, Her within the grasp of this samurai. She felt pain in her body though she couldn't know if the pain was more painful to her or if she was getting pleasured by it, but the pain was there. Cringing and groaning. "Ooohhhh that hurts...."

..Hallowed Grounds
..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......Somewhere between him moving between the falling being and the ground and actually performing the act of catching them, it suddenly dawned on him that what he was doing probably wasn't the brightest idea he'd ever had. The young man jumping into the person as they fell near him, knowing that redirecting the force of the fall could possibly lessen the strain it'd take on both of them. The tall, broad nature of the young warrior would actually serve him quite well in this instance, as he was able to catch the person and roll on to the ground without doing any permanent damage to himself. The force of the falling body connecting with his arms, in addition to him moving forward, caused him to roll over as he fell towards the ground, causing him to land on the ground first and the other person on top of him.

It'd all happened quickly, and the word around him spun for a few moments as he lay on his back, this other person atop him. He groaned loudly, his head throbbing from the punishment his body had just taken. With his right arm, the only free one thus far, he rubbed at his eyes, attempting to gather himself and remove the dizziness that currently plagued him. "Ugh ..." He only managed a groan as he shifted. His amber eyes focused in on the person a top him, whoever this guy was he was going to throttle him for doing something so stupid, and not risking one but two lives in the process. Pushing his elbows behind him to prop himself up, the samurai looked towards the person he'd just saved.

"Are you completely out of your -" His voice trailed off as he realized that it was not some man, but in fact a woman. His eyes narrowed, moving from several prominent features she posessed that a male was naturally drawn to, to the red hood that she had on. In fact, now that he thought about it that was a dominant feature of the stories he'd been informed of in town. Was this the so-called ghost he was looking for?

Their bodies fumbled about with that roll, but it was a great thing that he did roll because if he didn't then their pain would be a lot worse than just bodily aches. Zaiaku found her hands against a broad chest clothed or not she could already tell this was a male, though she had yet to realize that she was on top of him. Merely getting over that dizzy feeling she was having because of the roll and the sudden change of her plans for dipping into the ground like it were some gigantic pool. She had rose her upper body up and looked towards her 'captor' has he had stopped mid-sentence in scolding her. Her gaze softened as she looked at this male, a smile accompanied it as she looked up to the ruin and then down to him. She was impressed, shifting her position she stradled him placing her hands firmly to his chest. "You touched me..." she stated as she was really confused about it, but at the same time she was impressed, then again she has never experience a human being touching her in her spiritual state. She leaned foreword just enough that her face was a few inches away from his. "How did you touch me?"

..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......In the back of his mind, Lethe was sure he'd heard a story like this before in the village tavern. You know, the one where a woman falls out of the sky, usually accompanied by some sort of exaggerated wild oat sewing encounter by the ostenisbly male story teller. Had the young man not just experienced a rather concentrated amount of pain, he would have surely fallen to the impression that he had in fact hit his head and was strewn about the ground unconscious, hallucinating all of this in some sort of vivid dream spawned by the countless stories he'd heard that followed a similar chain of events.

......That was plainly not the case, however, and Lethe found himself on his back with a woman straddling him; under normal circumstances he may have been in a celebratory nature. Instead, he looked at the woman, eyebrow raising at the situation that was unfolding, his eyes sizing her up from top to bottom, "Hmm, not bad for a suicidal maniac." he said aloud, responding to a question that hadn't been asked with a heavily sarcastic tone. In times where his comfort zone was all but stripped from him, he usually reverted to some kind of humor, whether it be in good taste or not. "Regardless, are you addled? Why in the hell would you jump from there?" He paused, actually thinking about what she'd said, the very thing the girl had asked puzzled him. "Wait, what do you mean 'how did I touch you'? How could I not?"

......It was at that point the realization of things began to fall into place. It wasn't hard to put two and two together. Considering this woman matched the descriptions they received in addition to the fact he could see spirits, it all made sense. "Ah, I see ..."

It seems that even he was confused as to why she would jump off from there completely avoiding her questions, that or the question's had not fully hit him. It would take a few minutes, just wait for it, for that particular face when someone comes to a realization of something. She leaned her head the other way and smiled when he realized what she had said. That was the face, that one there. Though her question's still technically wasn't answered, but he seemed to have some sort of idea. She wasn't going to just let him go just yet, she had him right beneath her as she stayed her close proximity. "Ah I see? What do you see? Seems like you know something I don't." Her hands slid up from his chest and stopped at just his shoulders. Her thumbs sliding back and forth on the shoulder strap of outfit. "Are you going to keep it a secret from me? Or am I going to have to pry it out of you?" She smiled, though her smiled seemed a bit testing as if it were stating 'just try me'. "How is it that you were able to touch me, when I reverted. There must be something special about you. Usually your kind runs off scare seeing such a thing, but I take it you didn't see me fall halfway and disappear, you saw me fall entirely..."

......Lethe groaned at the realization of it all. It seemed that all of these people had seen this woman, freaked out at the slightest inclination of an other worldy activity, and came running back to the guard demanding that something be done. He wasn't sure which he disliked more, the fact that people were so easily scared or the fact that he'd spent all this time walking here just to find a less than intimidating. If anything, she was the opposite of intimidating and the feelings of her hands running up his chest was certainly nothing he expected from the source of these people's stories.

......It was more than obvious she was, in a way, playing a game with him. With the experience he'd had dealing with spirits before, he had a relatively decent grasp on how to handle the situation. With ones like these, you always play the game, never allowing them to gain control. Lethe propped himself up, drawing his face close to hers. "You can pry if you like. But, what I see - and it's no big secret - is that you're the thing that's been causing the commotion amongst the people of my village. You know, the thing everyone is convinced is haunting these ruins." He drew closer still, "And the reason I can see ... and touch you, is because I'm more than a mere human." He left it at that, curious as to whether or not she had the ability to sense the dormant spirit that possessed his being.

......Lethe sighed, moving his elbows and causing him to fall back on his back completely. She was out of his line of sight, and he simply stared into the blue sky above. Keeping a keen sensing of her movements for any potential attack, the young warrior spoke up, "Tell me, why is it that every time I run into one of your kind, they're usually causing me some sort of trouble? Not that I'm complaining about where I've found myself now, but are you intentionally scaring people when they come to this place, or is it some sort of odd coincidence. Probably the former, eh?"

Her head leaned back some as he came in closer, her firm hold loosened some as he sat up. She was just called a thing. She blinked several times really just hearing the word 'thing' resonate in her mind several times as she looked at him a bit in disbelief that she had just been called a thing. That was rather insulting as she shifted her gaze to the left and then to the right wondering if there was anyone in the area. This one stated was that he was more than just a human, thats what these people were called 'humans?'. She blinked and crossed her arms. He let himself fall back and she kept stradling him and gave a light hmph! noise. Though she did look to him when he stated one of her kind. She arched a brow and tilted her head. "One of my kind?" She was confused. "What is one of my kind? I don't really know what sort of being I am. Your people called me strange things, like ghost, specter and even a poltergeist. Though I don't really know what each of those are." Though answering upon why she was scaring people. "A mix of both I'd say."

Hallowed Grounds Lethebanner3
..Hallowed Grounds
..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......Oops, there was that look. Lethe could recognize that look from a mile away. Having been raised almost exclusively by the order of samurai within the village, he'd adopted a rather formal way of speaking which left him prone to often times speak without anticipating the ramifications of how he said whatever point he was trying to make. In short, he often said things in an offensive manner without truly meaning to. It was all part of the order's emphasis on duty and formality, more prone to teach recruits the mandate of reciting facts rather than interpretations. In this sense, his usage of the word thing was little more than a reference to the fiend-like creature the villagers had described rather than the actual woman atop him.

......Placing both hands behind his head, the man's amber eyes drifted up to her as he spoke. "Ahh ... I offended you, didn't I? My apologies, I meant no offense. I was merely referring to the so-called creature I was told about. You're clearly not a creature." he attempted to explain, backpedaling from his previous statement. Now that he thought about it, though, it was rather interesting that she had no true concept of what she was. He supposed after having just insulted this woman, the least he could do was try his best to give her a basic rundown of way he knew, even if it was far from expert material.

......"Anyway, I think I can help you. Everyone should have some sort of understanding of what they are, so I can't let you just leave without helping. I'm no expert on the topic, but I have a rudimentary understanding of what we are." he used the term we loosely, since he was only half of what she was. "These .... people you've been scaring, the ones that can't interact with you nor see you completely. They're called humans. You're a spirit." Lethe paused momentarily. He hoped what he was telling her was right, because he couldn't fully remember anything his possessor had told him beforehand, almost as if it had been ripped from his mind. "Spirits exist on a different plane of existence. Most of them can't take physical form in this world, but some that are more powerful can. Sometimes said spirits live within a human. That' a possession, and that's what I am. I'm half human, half spirit, and that gives me the ability to see and interact with you, among other things." Lethe blinked, recapping what he'd just said in his head to ensure it's validity to the best of his memory. "That's what I remember, anyway. I was told this stuff by whatever thing possessed me, but for some reason I can't remember most of what was said. Only bits and pieces, and the rest I pretty much pieced together through the years based on my own experiences with spirits."

......"Ah, but as far as others ... while there are others like me, we're few and far between. I've actually never told another human about it. Most of them have their own beliefs about these things, as evidence by everyone else being convinced you're some monster. Which, you haven't tried to kill me yet, so I'll assume you're not." The young man shifted, pulling himself into a sitting position. It was then he realized he almost did it again, if not already. "No offense."

She sighed as she would get up off of him finally after he had sat up. All his talking kinda bummed her out. His tone seemed dull to her and she rubbed the back of her neck. Looking at him as she stood a foot away to his right. "So a spirit is it?" she said really, just reaffirming what he stated to her. Well it was about the only sort of answer she had received on what she could have been. Clearly she knew she wasn't like those of this land, these humans, though her himself seemed to be a mix of the two breeds, a Hybrid of a human and a spirit. Rather interesting really, she herself didn't have any sensory abilities, least not yet, so she couldn't have felt his spiritual entity within him. "And all that what you said is such common knowledge amongst those beings you call human?" it was rather a curious thing to know if these humans knew about those of the other realms. She herself had limited knowledge of it, probably at one point in time she had more knowledge on it, but not she didn't have too much, most of it just appears as a blank if she attempted to recall anything. She rubbed her chin thinking about what had been said and all she could muster out was "You humans are strange..."

......Lethe let out a sight of relief as the woman stood up without any inclination of aggression. He wasn't sure why he assumed she would at least try one surprise attack on him, but she's proven his veiled paranoia false in not doing so. Truthfully, it was probably because he couldn't remember very many spirits he'd come across in his time that were that trustworthy. You could trust them about as far as you could throw them, and for almost everyone but him you couldn't throw them at all, if that was any indication of things. The young man stood up, brushing off his attire while listening to her words.

......"Yes, a spirit." He promptly replied, ensuring that his weapon was secured to his belt still. He glanced up as she mentioned other humans and the extent of their knowledge, and supposed that he was a bit of an exception when it came to his kind. "Oh, no. Most of them are completely clueless. Sure, they have their own assumptions, but it's mostly just a bunch of nonsense." he explained, having a good amount of experience on the matter. Having been raised in a palce such as the Village of the Moon had exposed him to a wide variety of belief systems. He always found that those travelers from outside the village had the most interesting ones.

......"Humans are strange, yes. Of course, then again they're not jumping from towers." He jested, unsure how she'd take a joke. She didn't seem to keen on much conversation as it were. "Do you have a name?"

Now he was asking for her name, this was surely an interesting one. At least for being apart of the species of 'humans' as he put it. There was just something about the human race that she didn't sit right with. She couldn't understand it but something inside of her just told her that she didn't like humans, whether they were full breed or half. Human's are humans, is how that feeling would place it. Though she didn't really act upon it, it was just something that she tolerated because she didn't know where that feeling originates from. She never really recalled the humans doing anything bad too her aside from the screaming and running away. But those aren't really reason's to hate an entire race, it would be silly. Though with those feelings aside as she would look away from Lethe. "I am Zaiaku." Though she wasn't all to positive on it, as she couldn't even remember if it truly was her name. It was just a feeling she had within her that just told her so. "What is it that they call you?"

..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......By most anyone's standards the operation had been a complete success. Not only had he been able to discover just what was causing the disturbances that had been so excessively reported, but he'd been able to determine the thread level of the source. Up to this point she hadn't been overly threatening to him, coming across more as a wandering soul disoriented about their purpose here. It was actually a fairly common theme among the spirits he'd come across, and the ones that did have a sense of what they were meant to do usually weren't the most friendly beings he'd ever come in contact with.

......Of course, now that he thought about it, he hadn't truly taken a measure of her abilities, and he couldn't in good conscious allow the people of the village believe this place to be safe if it wasn't. "Zaiaku ..." He repeated it slowly, more to himself than anything. In truth, he was pausing to ensure that he hadn't heard that name before. Some spirits were aware of the activities of others, and it was often a good source of those to avoid. Thankfully, he couldn't remember any warning. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Zaiaku, my name is Lethe." The young man gave a respective bow, rising and walking a slow circle around her.

......Lethe knew he'd have to be careful in how he phrased his next question; he didn't want to come off as hostile. "You know, a lot of spirits I come across have some rather unique powers. What about you? Is there anything special you can do?" He stopped his path, extending his hand beside him and twisting his open hand so it faced the sky. "When I became possessed, I inherited abilities from the spirit. Like so." It was a mere matter of concentration and a low mumble of words, but Lethe was able to manipulate the water particles in the air. It began as a small hazy cloud, cut above the young warrior's hand a long, sharp shard of ice form. The foot long spike hovered in the air, before Lethe turned to his left and threw his hand towards a nearby tree. The glacial spike accelerated toward it's timber target, striking and impaling the thick trunk.

She didn't like the way he was moving around her. She couldn't understand it, but she was feeling quite threatened by it. Her soft brown eyes kept on him without looking away. He could have just kept in one spot instead of circle around her like that slowly. Lethe was his name, this one was just weird. weirder than the others that ran screaming from her, but maybe it was because he could interact with her when she was in her 'spirit' form. Lethe, that name itself sounded odd to her. What sort of information was he trying to get out of her. She crossed her arms as she heard his question. Shifting her weight to one leg and watched his movements carefully. He was now asking about her special abilities, why was he asking about that? Was there something important that he needed to now if she had any to begin with. Though he seemed to show off his own ability. She blinked staring at what he did, kinda stunned and surprised by it, but then again she couldn't remember seeing anyone do such abilities like that. Was a troublesome thing when most of the experience in your life comes from more than twenty years ago, which you don't remember anymore. "Quite impressive..." she stated with surprise in her voice. "I can make people do things I want them to do." that was about as far as she knew of her abilities.

..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......The ability to get someone to do whatever you wanted? That certainly sounded like a useful ability. Not just in the practical sense of what a human would have people do if they had the ability, but also in the spirit that will devour souls type of way. Even with the potential negative implications this all had, up to this point he was thoroughly convinced that she wouldn't be a threat to the village. That could all change, of course, like the tides or the winds of a storm, but he certainly wasn't going to take action just because of the potential for something to happen.

......"Really? That's very impressive, yourself." Lethe nodded his head in agreement with his words. "Well, I apologize for my questioning. I'm a protector of the village where the easily frightened people come from. They sent me out here to investigate and ensure that there was nothing dangerous here for the people, so I had to ask." He supposed that if he was going to question her the least he could do was explain himself. After all, he didn't want to come off as rude. "You don't seem like a threat to them, from what I can tell. You don't plan them harm, do you? If not, then I'll be happy to assist you whenever you need it. But, if you ever mean them harm ..." Lethe's voice trailed, his hand caressing the hilt of his katana, " ... then we would have a problem."

......Of course, in typical fashion for Lethe, what had been intended as a mere informative message came off more threatening than he'd intended.

So that was his position in the village. A protector of it, no wonder he held such a threatening feeling. Though Zaiaku had a frown on her face, clearly upset by this feeling he was giving off at this moment. It was a wonder what could have happened next, but it seemed like this man has turned off his threatening feel for a moment as he apologized to her and gave her a run down as to why he was acting as such. Least until he got to the end, in which her brow had arched and she crossed her arms, her stare growing sharp. "I don't take kindly to threats." she stated as there seemed to be a light red glow in her eyes that had occurred when she arched her head down just a bit more to have a shadow, made by her hood, pass over her face a moment before it had fully disappeared. "You should probably consider making this place off limits then if you're so worried about their safety." It was kinda true, if there had been complaints about this place, wouldn't it have just been simpler to make the place off limits for people to visit or even a visit at your own risk. This was outside their, at least she believed it was, and there was no rules that she had to abide by. So what would stop her from killing anyone that made their way to this area. Really if she had wanted to, she could have killed people long ago, just by making them do it themselves.

..Lethe, the Cryosamurai:
......It has been said that the art of negotiation is one of the most important aspects that a soldier could possess. Having a masterful handle over the art court avoid a plethora of potentially deadly situations, while at the same time giving a soldier the invaluable ability of manipulating their enemies. Lethe, unfortunately, was lacking in the art and was more blunt than he intended more often than not. This usually resulted in miscommunications and the escalation of situations. In fact, this was a good example of such. By the time he realized how he'd come off in what he'd just said, the woman had already taken it as a threat. Classic escalation.

......At least it would have escalated had the woman actually been a spirit of evil. The entire time she'd been responding to him, the young man's amber eyes had been locked upon her, watching her every move. Now that he thought about it, him inadvertently threatening her may have actually been a good thing. Because of that he was able to see her reaction, which was much more important than mere words. It is said that a person's true character reveals itself when they're faced with hostility, so her reaction wasn't exactly a worrisome one. In addition to him having the same reaction any time someone threatened him, he actually agreed with her.

......A smile formed on the face of the samurai, and his hand retreated from his blade. Rubbing the back of his neck, Lethe let out a light chuckle. "Of course, you're right. My apologies for the hostility. I meant nothing by it, I'm just ... not so good with my word choice at times." Even if she had a point, Lethe was unsure just how effectively a restricted area could be enforced. This was a rather long ways away from the village. But, for the time being, that wasn't a very important detail. "I suppose if you did mean my people harm you would have already done it. And for not, I thank you." he nodded to her, unsure if his appreciation would mean anything, but he figured a friendly gesture couldn't hurt.

......The young man took another scan of the area. There was nobody there other than him and Zaiaku, so there was zero chance that there was anyone else he needed to deal with. "I think my work here is done." he announced. "However, from personal experience I know that living in this area in solitude can be difficult. If you ever need anything, I'll be happy to assist you. You can find me on the edge of the village; I have a small hut." Lethe bowed respectfully to the woman, turned, and began walking back the direction he came. "Take care of yourself. Perhaps we can learn from one another in the future."

Several thoughts passed through her mind as she thought about doing something. It would be so easy, so simple to just do something, but there was no value in it. What would she gain from it, nothing good to add into her basket, which she was still missing. It was in the ruin somewhere. She just needed to find it. Eventually she will find it, but that will happen after she was left alone dealing with this human, as he called it, here. He apologized again, though didn't really feel any meaning from it like he just said it for the sake of saying it. She still kept her arms crossed watching him. Soon though she could tell this meeting was ending just from the sounds of it he was preparing his so longs. "Thank you for the offer, I may consider it in the future." she stated watching him walk away and state for her to take care of herself and hopefully they can learn from each other in the future. It was abit of an odd thing to say, she blinked confused and then just rubbed the back of her head releasing a heavy sigh as she turned toward's the ruin. "back to searching I go." she would state to herself as she began to take off the ground and soar through the air as she headed into the ruin, entering her 'spiritual form' she would phase through the physical walls as she would disappear.
