Thus the awkward moments were over and Jyn was finally able to get his body covered, which was good for obvious reasons. Though he didn’t agree with his digs, he would wear them, nonetheless. The broken home which they had first happened upon, much like most of the houses in Northern Heights, had multiple bedrooms. Thus there were at least two closets for Jyn to scavenge in while butt naked. Finding a dresser drawer of an adult male in one of the bedrooms where the roof had been broken in, he was able to find clothes. He felt a bit odd wearing another man’s underwear, and unfortunately the male was a brief man. Luckily, the size was about the same, so the briefs fit snug, if not just a little uncomfortable for someone who preferred boxers. Next were the pants; Jyn wanted something sturdy that he could move around in, so for that purpose, he found a pair of dark khaki cargo utility pants that he was able to find a black leather belt with and a beige long sleeve shirt which he rolled the sleeves up to his forearms.
After getting dressed, Jyn would move from the bedroom through the rubble filled hallway of the house. He would go to the bathroom and see if there were anything that could be used there, such as a first aid kit, but the findings were slim. There were trails that suggested that others had been here within the past years, to scavenge items from it; some things that one would expect to be there were missing, which seemed. Thinking over their situation, Jyn still didn’t have a good grasp of things, but the deterioration on the walls, spider webs and insect activity, and the age of some of the footprints tracked in mud about the house would suggest that some amount of time had passed between the time this house was normal and now.
He would meet back up with Izumi in more or less the living area of the broken home. The couch and vital furniture would be missing, leaving it more or less a barren open space. It seemed she was able to find clothing as well; when his eyes met with her, he would look over her body in the dress and like the choice immediately. A frown came to his lips when he heard that she was unable to create portals. Though he did not have many magical traits, the ones he did have no longer seemed available. Aside from that, he seemed a bit physically stronger than he did previously, but that was about it. He would answer her, “our house isn’t far from here.” Of course, he would be referring to his house that she had been in the process of moving in with him, though for some reason, she kept her place as well. He continues, “we may be able to find some clues there, or at least get my car.”

Jyn felt unease in hearing Izumi’s concern; he knew that she was rather strong in magic and to lose all of that suddenly would probably leave someone feeling vulnerable. He wanted to assure that that he would protect her, though he didn’t know how useful that would be. After she speaks, he would say, “yeah, it’s going to be tough…” He would manifest a gun in his hand and hold it up, stating, “I’ll just have to protect us for the time being. Maybe we just need to unlock your abilities somehow… that may be tied into the mystery of us being here now.” The gun would dissolve from his hand and return into being one of the studs they had noticed earlier before walking here. As the hand is held out, he would give a small reassuring smile a take her hand. Feigning a bit of confidence, he would assure her, “I’ll keep you safe no matter what. The world ended and I’m still by your side, aren’t I?” With a soft tug, he would pull Izumi in closer to him and give her a reassuring embrace, rubbing her back softly, trying to be sweet and figuring that was the type of stuff that needed to be done when women felt defenseless. Having her body against him, felt as if it had been years since he had held her; something he had taken for granted in the days just before the world’s end.

Feeling as if he might have done some good, Jyn would tell her, “that’s what I’m here for…” He would allow her freedom from his embrace as she recalls something and proceeds to attempt the teleportation. Jyn waited for something to happen, but nothing occurred. With the sigh and the words, Jyn would simply encourage, “it may take a while, but I’m sure it’ll come back to you. I found out how to summon my gun’s afterall.” Now that they had gotten dressed, however, it was time to get a move on; Shiori was waiting for them outside. Moving from her, he would look around the house for clues. Though calendars wouldn’t really help, devices like battery powered clocks theoretically would have worked until their batteries ran out, regardless of if life was sucked from the world or not. If it were a digital device, that wouldn’t help them, but if it were an analog device; it would be more helpful. That said, he would find his way into an office like area where he would see a flip clock that included a date with it on top of what was left of a burgundy wooden desk. Unfortunately, it seemed to only have lasted a year and a half after the date Jyn remembered as the day of the red flash. It did prove that time did continue after the red flash, however. Moving around the office, he wouldn’t find more than trash and unusable things and weathered books. With this, he feared that maybe his or Izumi’s house wouldn’t be that much better off. Returning into the main room with Izumi, he would stand in the middle of it and speak, “we should probably move on from here.” It was a pity this place wasn’t in good enough condition to live in or set a temporary base.

“Yeah,” Jyn would agree; it would be a heaven sent if his car were to still work. He takes one more visual glance around the area to see if there were anything that stood out to him, but there wasn’t. With that, he would come in the way he had left, through a door that just so happened to have a hole in the wall large enough to walk out of. Still, it wasn’t right to go out that way, so Jyn would open the door and step out of it, walking into the fields that had grown up just outside of the house, now with shoes on his feet. The yard was in shambles which made the house appear as if it were just in the middle of a field. He pauses and waits for her as he turns his body slightly. He assumed that Rhapsody would either be outside standing guard, or would have returned from whatever she may have gone momentarily. But it was Izumi’s ‘thing’ so he would let her be worried about it. Before they got too far away from the house, there was the complication that was coming up in the near future that Izumi hadn’t spoken about. He wanted to make sure she was okay with their current situation. With his gaze partially down and towards the ground, he would lift it up and look to her and ask, “are you really okay traveling with Shiori? I know that things got awkward there for a moment with her…”

Jyn wasn’t sure how to take the smile, but he assumed that it meant that she wasn’t worried about the situation. He would allow that to put him a bit at ease; and since she wouldn’t stress it, then he would try not to worry about it. The words are received that if he didn’t do anything with Shiori, then all would be fine in the world, and with that, the understanding is set. He didn’t plan on doing anything with Shiori and this would simply solidify the grounds between that that was already pretty much known. It was thought that Izumi knew that Jyn wouldn’t like her messing around on him and in like manner, he knew that she didn’t want him doing the same, so there would be no special case here.
With a nod, he would comment, “understood; I have no desire to do anything that would upset you, so don’t worry about that.” His words were strong and resolute; he just hoped his heart would follow suit if an obstacle were to present itself.
Now with that out of the way, it was time to get a move on. There was nothing more that this house had to offer them, so they would continue with the plans to move on and gain greater understanding of their situation as well as find a place to settle when the time came to rest. Jyn would lead the way through the tall grasses and head back in the direction where they had left Shiori. Pausing for a moment, he turns to wait for Izumi, offering her his hand, or rather his arm to walk with one another.
