Sometime Kichi figured that she lived in hell when it came to the way things turned out among the clan. The matriarch tended to find new ways to make Kichi's life harder. It was hard to tell if the woman was pushing the bastard of her lover, or she was trying to get her killed. Either way, Kichi bowed her head and took on the difficult task presented to her. At least she would get to lead a small group so it wouldn't be a solo. They were going for a simple raid on a neighboring village. Six of them total. They were to not wear the colors of the clan, not show their faces, and ride the black horses. The ones rubbed down with soot and ash to hide their markings and brands. Their night raid would in the long run, bring the village elders to needing protection from the clan. This method had been done before when they had need. The raid usually brought little compared the pay of being hired by the villagers.
This town had been raided twice before, and they were constantly changing people. So if any were seen, they would never be the same one twice. With a sigh, the young woman, turned on her heel and left the tent of her foster mother, her katana tied to her slender hips. Kichi surpassed her half sister years ago, physically maturing a bit faster, mentally as well. It was the survival instinct combined with the potent blood of their demonic father.

As night fell the villagers of the so small village, that it wasn't even on most maps, were set upon for a third time by raiders. They wore bone masks that were more for the frightening aspect than anything else. No one was killed, but wares went missing, horses were spooked, and more so the cattle went on a stampede. Their job was done and done rather quickly. Back they went across the plains into the bosom of their clan. The saddle bags filled with items for the clan as well as news of their success.
When Kichi stepped from the shadows behind the Matriarch, the woman did not even look up as she spoke. "It went well then?" "Yes, Mistress. As always we were successful" "Soon we will be able to make a move and offer them protection from the threat of these... bandits." A smile appeared on the woman's face as she tossed a bag to Kichi, who caught it with such ease and fluid motions that it didn't even make a sound. The matriarch spoke again while dismissing the younger woman, "You may have some use yet, Kichi. Go back to your charge" With her hand over her heart, she bowed to the back of the woman and disappeared back into the shadows blending in as her father had taught her. Her mission complete, she was free to assume the babysitting of her half sibling. But that was always the fun part of the day.
