Uroboros III

It had been a couple of days down in this crap hole and Jack was begining to get used to the cold. It was a good thing that his kind dind't really need to sleep otherwise likely he would have frozen to death under here long ago. But that didn't really much matter to him, as it didn't really happen. And if he did need to sleep. Well he just had to go up into the entry room where the place was absolutely scorching. He didn't know how Sera was going to really adjust to locations like this. He had been in Celesties once himself and the place had been wonderful. cool air. Nice water. Something along the lines of Terra but in a little bit more of what you could call pristine condition.

Then there was this place, a horrible musty wasteland from which there was no return. Jack rolled his eyes. Looking back at the books, most of this he could carry out of here. But then why would he want to. The place as well hidden within these tunnels , and not many were suicidal enough to venture down here out fo fear of the horrible demons that were lurking within. Jack just happening to be one of those.


" Ah fuck it".

Said Jack as hee came to the conclusion that i twas probably going to be a better idea if he just set up shop in here and cleared out the local area of demons instead of dragging his ass back and forth to move all the stuff over to the seat of pride.

So the first thing he had to do in order to get this place under his control was to clear out the locals. Ah it brought back memories. Back when he and Iskra had claimed the first slot of land together. Back when he thought that there may have been something about his pupil that actually would have benefitted him in keeping her around bar the curiosity. He wondered just how Iskra would have reacted to the news of his death. But he hadn’t heard from her since. Perhaps he would pop around her land at some point just to find out how she was doing. But for now, things had to be concentrated upon. Moving back up the stairs from within the frozen labs, Jack climbed out for the hole in the roof and began to look around, these tunnels were known for holding a variety of demons that weren’t known to be too friendly. Well bar the weird fox that ha lived in the lava.

That one had been TOO friendly.

Jack jumped down from the roof area and then headed out beginning to search for local demons in order to kick their ass out of the local territory. He kept his earth senses active just so he could pick up on movement and weight. Half the time if he went about chasing creatures that weighed virtually nothing then it was going to be an annoyance clearing out tiny bugs. He wasn’t going to bother putting that in. It was the bigger more dangerous ones that he had to worry about clearing.

Thankfully it would seem that there were relatively few sources of weight and power in the local area which was going to make clearing it out far easier than he was expecting. It would have seemed that the blood mage who had lived here before had already established his territorial lining with the others and they had not yet discovered his death. Which was something Jack supposed that he could at least be thankful for. But he had to wonder about just how someone who had been so frail managed to maintain these borders so easily. And soon enough Jack got his answer. To mages there were specific calling cards. Everyone knew that there was power in blood, and whilst Jack didn’t have quite as much control over his blood magic as he had before, due to his memories and experiences still returning to him. He knew the calling card of a blood mage.

On the walls of the 6 pentacle points surrounding the area where markings. Markings in blood and in fire. It was actually rather intricate work. Although by the looks of it the magic in the territory markings was beginning to fade. It wasn’t quite barrier magic by the looks of it but more a warding magic that made Demons and anything there after that entered the area just what kind of danger hey would be in if they moved any further. Whatever it did it seemed to work effectively. All Jack had to do was....a cut on the hand, press it to the old magic. And then he infused his own power into it. The seal of fire and blood lit up once again. He was going to have to study this later to understand it more. But for now this part seemed active. He was going to have to go around the other five points and activate them as well.

Moving from one point in the area to the next wasn’t much of an issue. Activating the other points wasn’t much of a problem either. Although on some of them it seemed that the previous magic hadn’t faded as fully as fully as it had on the first one resulting in some of the kick back from injecting his own magical power into the markings. But his power easily overwhelmed the remaining power of the dead mage. In modern terms this activity was just like changing the batteries on a device. Its power source had been used up and now ll simply had to be replaced. And that’s precisely what Jack was doing..After it had been completed. Jack bega to move within the areas of the pentacle to hunt down whatever demons actually existed within it. As expected resistance was petty and before him they scattered. Some running others simply dying. At least some of them were brave enough to fight. It gave him a meal that he hadn’t had in awhile.

That was something though that he was going to have to watch himself with. The hunger and eating. The power of hunger granted him powers that were above that of madness and pride. But he had to watch it. After all hunger was currently contained. Unlike madness and prie hunger was less a state of existence and more a degrading infection. Currently he was reaping the benefits of its power. But if he indulged it too much. The thin anarchic balance that held him in between the three would snap. Releasing hunger and driving him to becoming another glutton
