It was just another day in Mare Maris. Well kind of a normal day, if one considered siting in the tavern playing nursemaid to a soldier who was crying his heart out. Silently she shook her head and patted him on the back. The man had just had his wife leave him for another man. This had all gone wrong from the first step she had taken into the tavern. But the man beside her reeked of alcohol and sweat. If this had been a remnant, she would have socked him and told him to man up, dead men don't cry, but this was just a soldier she happened to sit next to in a crowded tavern in order to have a nice lunch.
It was one of those situations where you try and be nice and make small talk with a person, and then they just up and dump their life story in your lap in that rather awkward way, where you are trapped into being their personal shoulder to cry on. Her plans were ruined for lunch. She had hoped to ambush Belmont here and continue her own personal torture of herself, while trying to melt that wall off ice he kept building around himself. She would one day get that ice to shatter. For a good two weeks she had been gone, and had left him the written report on the destruction of the demon known as Malathorne, plus the information she had collected on Inanis. So he would know she was in town.
Two weeks of not having her around to tease him, to be right there as a part of him. Two weeks of being alone to his own thoughts. Had he missed her? Had he even noticed her being gone. One might call kitsume in love, but kitsume would call it, a bit of fun. The Runt and the Bull. What a joke. But still she patted the guy beside her as he continued to cry like a school girl that had just found out she was pregnant by her teacher.

Journey Among Men Inside the walls of Mare Maris and in the district of the Wharf, there is a small tavern on the water's edge called 'The Singing Crab' that is slightly known for its lovely show girls which is a cover for the hosting shady characters that do or work with those who have underhanded dealings in the underworld. Thieves, pirates, assassin, and every now and then a bad cop hang out in this place to see the show, buy a girl, gamble, or just eat the really good crab. It is ran by a lively middle age widow, named Lilly, with a really big bust that took over the tavern after her husband lost a game of cards to a young woman from the desert region. His body was found hanging from the docks the next day... missing it's 'manhood'. Believing that the killer was the young woman, the city guard tried their best to track down this woman from the desert but each time they had come close to getting her she would vanish before their eyes. The City Guard and the Thieves Guild has given this woman the name Phantom. Most of the guard has given up on capturing this person but every now and then some green horn right out of boot camp hears the tale of 'The Phantom'. Most spend weeks looking to find nothing and others find something they wish that they hadn't have.
The tall well built man tending the counter of the crowded tavern, keeps a close eye on the young woman with the crying guard. Ether out of his own interest in the woman or because of drunken man next to her. Having fights braking out in the middle of the day is bad for business. The guy setting to the other side of young woman gets tired of hearing the man's crying and picks up his plate and drink to move, while muttering the suggestion of just buying a new wife. He was about to be replaced by a young man who been looking the woman's ass for a little while and thought he would try to hit on her. The young man was too slow and was interrupted by tall woman with lightly bronzed skin and light cheery blond hair takes the open chair. A cold draft flows over the young man.
Setting down at the counter and giving it a tap to bring the attention of waiter over to me. "day yht y bmyda." Seeing him nod, I glance over at the crying man for a moment as he is being patted on the back. "Your friend going be ok?" I look to the woman that is patting him on the back as the cup of tea and plate of food is set down on the counter in front of me.
