| .the call
The sun rose slowly and so did an old man. His joints complained with red bolts of pain, but he ignored them as he did every morning since the day a demon bore his son away on the western winds. Every morning he got up like this. Every morning he went to the window. Every morning he looked to the sunrise for the return of the hero with the blessed sword, victorious, with the boy in tow.
And every morning disappointed him with the same news. The heroine remained away at locations unknown. The days passed and became weeks, weeks that his son no doubt writhed in the clutches of the foul demon. The thoughts gave him nightmares that haunted him at all nights. The second the sun went down, so did his body and his hopes. When the darkness descended, so did the thoughts of the thousand torments his only offspring must be enduring at the tentacles and talons of the monster. As his patience grew shorter with each passing day, his resentment grew. He resented time for robbing him of his youth and burying it in a bygone age. He resented the knightess who swore to return his son and even now failed to fulfill her promise.
But above all, he grew angry at himself.
Why did the demon not carry him off? He had lived his life, and he deserved it for bringing this entire situation about. He deserved the torments of the beast.
Yet, regrets did nothing. Sleeping with his guilt did nothing.
An old, plastic-and-metal contraption in the far corner yielded paper when he experimentally pulled on it one day. The building he now awaited death in was an office supply center in a past life. Pens hung in shiny packages from a rack near the massive window. With these, he scribbled out many cries for help.
The pile rested before the broken window. A corner of the top sheet moved slightly in the breeze, impatient for its journey to begin.
So the old man reached forth. His hand laid gently on the fresh, flapping sheet, and he closed his eyes. He envisioned somewhere far, far away. He imagined new warriors... new places as they'd appeared in his dreams.
The magic flowed forth and the sheets disappeared, one by one. Where they might reappear remained up to fate. - Mystical Quest wrote:

Info!:
A mystical quest is a large, unofficial quest designed primarily to offer a fun challenge between official site events. They're meant to be massive in scale, though they are basically glorified normal threads. This quest is recommended for kamikonjou, humans, and good-aligned characters. Lower-level characters will be given a buff for purposes of this series. Evil characters may join, but they may have to justify how their goals align with the goals of the other questers. This is the signup, so you should post getting the note and traveling to F11d IC here to join the quest.
Premise!:
You receive a mysterious letter. It was either carried on the wind or simply appeared. The text is as follows: "I can grant anyone's wish but my own. My only wish is for my son to be rescued from a demon who has abducted him. Any beings who brings him back to me shall have their heart's desire. Hurry, please. I fear something bad may have happened to him already." Below this text is a map to an area near the lake that leads to hell. "My son will know how to get back to me so you may claim your reward. Thank you."
Rules!:- Please allow 2 people to post before you post again.
- Try to keep the posts relevant to the quest. No long, unrelated flashbacks or thought sequences, please.
- This is a storyline thread so that I can award boosts to lower-leveled characters without breaking site rules. This has the secondary function of preventing official deaths during this series. Other than that, battles will be conducted according to the site rules.
- Please have fun with this!
- I plan to post up to 2 times daily: 7 or 8 in the morning and 7 or 8 in the afternoon (EST)
- If the quest moves on without you, I reserve the right to account for your disappearance in my posts.
- Any OOC notes, questions, or comments, please put on the OOC / General Discussion thread or PM them to me. No OOC in the quest, please.

The Call "There..." she muttered, wiping the sweat from her brow with a dirty hand, "It is done."
Lost in the mists within the strange, alternate dimension which the Dark King had teleported her to- Alicia had allowed twenty six brave men to die. She knew their names- she had made certain of that when she had been handed them for use against the fell tyrant, and she would remember them for as long as time went on. Lias in particular would be missed- him having been one of the Knight's personal men-at-arms, though each one who met his death that day would carry some weight on her heart.
Kess and Reynault had left after Lias was buried- sent off by Alicia to return to the village she had sworn to protect to evacuate the people from the land. From there- they were to head to Mare Maris- where they could hopefully live relatively safe lives for the time being- though the world was quickly filling up with more dangers than the Knight could count. A powerful demon who would call himself king, a fiend who cursed lands and worked dark magics on the blood of whom he pleased and a formerly imprisoned monster that Alicia herself had released after scaling a treacherous tower to retrieve a holy blade.
She held the golden weapon out before herself now- reading the inscription upon the blade once more- recalling her promise to the elderly man and his son once more- and regretting having had to release the demon once more. While the sword she had claimed at the top of the tower was as amazing a prize as anyone could wish for- the price for a weapon was far too high.
It was her fault the boy had been taken- her fault the demon was free; though there was very little she could have done to make things turn out otherwise. Regardless- she blamed herself for the evils she had unleashed upon Terra Regnum- and it was her duty to remove it from the world.
Paguma weaved restlessly between Alicia's legs- letting out a loud meow before padding off into the forest beyond. Sheathing the blade, the Knight followed the white cat- yet another being she had released from the Dark Tower- though he was much different here than he was within that vile place. Alicia nodded and started following the small creature- heading southwest.
***** Time blended together as Alicia traveled toward her destination, allowing Paguma to lead her ever closer to the demon who called himself "Inky". Even if he lacked most of the power he had within the Tower, the white cat seemed to have some level of knowledge as to where the creature was- a fact that was affirmed more when Alicia received a mysterious note from the elderly man who had created the tower. It seemed he had grown impatient waiting for the Knight to return with his son- and with good reason- and had sent out a cry for help across the land. Luckily, he had been kind enough to send a letter to Alicia as well.
She reached the entrance presumably before anyone else- noting no footprints heading into the cave thereof; though there were several oddly shaped footprints that lead out of it, made by Demons- presumably. It was here that she set up camp- awaiting the arrival of any other adventurers who had received the letter from the old man. Should no one come within a few days- Alicia would simply head down into Hell with Paguma- though waiting any longer did not sit well with the Knight by any means.

The area described in the note contained a lush patch of forest fed by a small creek that ran down a series of rocks, its chuckling splashes like laughter on the still air. Everything about the spot crawled with life, from the multitude of insects residing in the leaf litter to the oddly distant birds. Many brambles of wild berries curled around fruit bushes that dotted the periphery of the main clearing.
At the base of this clearing, a large cave yawned, the darkness within uninviting, though it's this darkness that Alicia's cat led her towards before the knightess pitched camp.
In the time waiting for others to arrive, the wildlife might come around: deers, squirrels, birds, chipmunks, and mice. The scattered and periodically appearing denizens of the wood fed near the camp with impunity and behaved as though they lacked experience with man, or at least the kind that gave most animals a healthy respect for humans as a species, though their feeding kept them on the edge of the clearing where all of the food grew.
The leaves around the cave entrance appeared black with some fragrant, slimy substance that gave off a scent not unlike a man's cologne. It lay heavy on the air, and the beasts appeared to have some respect for it, especially when a small slug formed from it and crawled interestedly, though non-aggressively, towards the periphery of Alicia's camp. 277 || +1 TEXP (1st thread)

It possesses many, many pointed teeth that, while sharp, aren't particularly large or threatening and a single eye that's large and red and never seems to close. The tentacles around its head wave like so many fingers, constantly in motion like the feelers of a roach. It emits a smell similar to rotting foliage or perhaps a long-dead rose. Its voice is low and grating, like thick, rusty metal sliding against thick, rusty metal, but it only makes these sounds if its been injured. At all other times, it only makes sounds of its locomotion: a sort of slurping and sucking, like a louder version of someone french kissing the ground. | How long had it been?
It seemed like half a lifetime that Lethe had been away from his homelands, having found himself traversing the out-land forests in search of a mythical artifact for his people. As far as conventional time it had only been a few months, but once he had returned to Dagan and learned of all he had missed while on his journey ... well, he felt as if he'd missed a lifetime's worth of events. Remus, maker bless her, wasn't the best person to retell stories. Her head was much more centered around military strategy and shouting orders, or commanding the soldiers of the Nogatii army, but recalling the events of the Dark King like some sort of village elder was not her forte'.
Still, Lethe got the gist of everything that had happened and it slightly saddened him that he hadn't been there to assist or bring his men into the battle. Without a doubt it would have been easier for them had he brought his soldiers to the fight. But, what luck that the king had left this world, even after supposedly being victorious! The barbarian king couldn't call that move a form of tactical genius, since usually when you defeat an opponent army you take over the lands you intended on taking over. Retreating away kind of seems to defeat the purpose of attacking at all, unless there's some sort of sinister ulterior motive involving larger lands and the breaking of people's spirit is what sets that up.
Either way, Lethe had some small bit of relief at the fact that his men were spared, as it would have been problematic had he lost men. Even now, reviewing prospective expansion sites and planned works, one of those men came to him with a document they'd found. It had just appeared out of thin air outside of the hut, floating and dancing in the air in front of the guard. Seeing this as a sign of their god, he had immediately brought it to Lethe. The young warrior took the sheet, dismissed the man, and looked intently at it.
Interesting.
What had actually happened (the person being abducted by the demon) wasn't the most interesting aspect of the document to Lethe, but instead the promise of fulfilling a wish. A small part of Lethe told him that the probability of someone being able to actually fulfill a wish was next to nothing, but at the very least he could obtain a good amount of trading goods, or perhaps enlist the two people into servitude for repayment. Additionally, he'd spread Nogatii notoriety, and fighting a demon or two seemed fun as well, and either way it seemed to be an advantageous proposition to take.
Leaving his village and men in command of Remus, Lethe left Dagan with haste.

| The hellish little creature began to poke inquisitively around the area, regarding the new arrival with its large, lone eye. It smiled to itself, gurgling dark spittle through its conical, white teeth. Rather, something about this particular stranger delighted the hell slug to no end. A noise like a steel trap closing emitted from its mouth as its long, thin tentacles searched about the area for anything else of interest. It found that thing of interest in the form of Paguma, who would have all the reason in the world to regard this monstrosity with suspicion. After all, it was part and parcel of his enemy, an entity he had held enmity against since the Dawn. But negative attention did very little to make the hell slug go away. In fact, he became more inquisitive and more interested in absorbing as much about his surroundings as he could. It seemed to be trying to gather up as much information as it could, though its own safety seemed a secondary concern. Unlike in the tower, however, it didn't seem to be trying to get up Alicia's skirt, or in her chainmail, as it were. |

| For the most part Belmont had spent the night drolling over notes and paper work from the Mare Maris goverment about their new recruit. The goverment treated the Remnants just likee a normal part of the military but provided it with enough privacy for them to do their little black operations without any moral intrigue. Whilst they asked very few questions about Remnant operations training and recruitment. Knowing which members had lived and been accepted, and those who had died and had to be marked off records. Was something that they actually did request. And as the person who had led the last " recruitment drive" Belmont was the one responsible for marking down just who had died, what the cause of death was. And of course. The current conditioning of the new recruit. On the ride back to the encampment he'd gotten some details out of her, but they were vague and still for the moment she was a mystery to him. Not that it much mattered. A corpse was a corpse, so long as it continued to do its job well. After finishing his notes he bent down and pulled the drawer open. Placing the papers inside. With that, he looked out the window, and decided he would get dressed for the day. Pulling on the light uniform of the Remnants. A dark navy blue shirt and trousers combo with heavy leather boots. The insignia of the group. A XXVI marked on the chest. There was then a tapping sound outside his door. In a gruff voice he spoke the words. " Enter, its open". His voice relaying the fact he'd had little sleep. But then it was something he was used to. Dead men only slept in their graves. EXP: 339 | |

Work that Noah really wasn't looking forwards to. He didn't expect there to be so many Oni's roaming Terra Regnum as they encountered quite a few on their way to the destination. He was in his Archangel form, though there would be nothing that would indicate this. This whole thing started with Prometheus finding some damn note during the negotiations between Theden and Inanis. Kimi was even skeptical about what kind of note would make someone like Prometheus to quickly warp between places just to grab her and force her on this little journey. It was until she read the note when she immediately understood the whole situations. Prometheus possessed great aspects to him, but above everything else in the entire world was what he wanted. Anything he wanted, even a simple object came as top priority above everything even human life, and what this note presented was just that. Just for saving someone, the individual would be granted anything they wanted and that was the sole motivator for Prometheus. What he didn't foresee was Noah regaining control on one of the nights that passed traveling to the place. That kind of thing was something that would motivate almost anyone, definitely one who is as Avaricious as Prometheus. Noah on the other hand could care less about that, but Kimi had exhausted much stamina in traveling this far, so to warp her home would just be wrong. He knew he had to see it all the way through now with her, in which was okay to." Noah are you sure you don't want to head home ? ". Noah shook his head, as he had his resolve." Im staying with you all the way. Prometheus initial reason for coming was greedy, but now we can look into this without the tainted feeling ". Noah said, making up bull crap as to why he 'so called' wanted to stay.

| The girl was too lively for a corpse. As she entered he took a seat behind his desk as she plopped a note down in front of him and pointed out the spelling error. He would deal with that later, it was more of a trivial matter. His eyes scanned across the note and he wondered just how she'd gotten a hold of this thing. The letter seemed like a bit of a hoax. The ability to grant what ones heart desired. Belmont's heart was cold, empty. Save for the desire to kill all spirits of course. And he doubted that whatever wish the man could grant would be capable of this. " It seems like a fake". He placed it back down on his table. Knowing that this was hardly worth the time of the Remnants and was probably just a prank from one of the other regiments within the Mare Maris military. Still however. If it wasn't and a human did indeed require aid. Then here he was sitting back as a demon did its will against the innocent. Decisions decisions. After a few moments self deliberation he decided that they would at least find out what was going on. This place was near the Diabolus Lake. Near the testing grounds. So it could well be that regardless of the notes origins. They would be able to kill some spirits. " None the less, if there is even a shread of truth to it. It requires that we investigate....you and I shall go. That way if it does turn out to be a hoax our forces will not be wasted upon it". Grabbing what he needed from around the office. Belmont walked past Kitsume and then gestured the woman to follow " Come, we dare not waste any more light". EXP: 337 | |

| | He seemed to take a moment for the decision and she chuckled at him. There had to be a living heart under all that ice he presented. Kitsume looked at him as a challenge. Had to get under that ice and get a rise out of him, anything was better than nothingness. And she excelled at overcoming challenges. With that in mind when he grabbed his gear and order to come along, she smiled that little sexy smile she use to use in her old profession, the one that spoke volumes of desire and hot sweaty nights, before saying, "oooo. Just you and me how romantic, all alone in the woods, sunlight, flowers, demon blood splashing all around us... my, my you sure know how to woo a woman don'tcha, sir." There was that hint of that sarcastic double meaning in her words as she slid off his desk and followed him to the door. As she passed him, her hip brushed against him right at the final two words before she continued down the hallway.
From this point they would leave and travel from Mare Maris to the place located upon the map. Though how they would travel was up to Belmont. But she would be relatively silent for the ride.

| He listened to her little comment making out as if this was going to be some kind of date. "...I'll bring the wine". He looked over his shoulder. " You bring the knives. We'll feast upon their rotting corpses". Perhaps that was the one thing that he could get zealous about. Killing spirits. She had indeed gotten a rise out of him but perhaps not in the same way as she would have liked. Having one of the stable boys arrange a carriage transport. He climbed on and in. Much like the one from Diabols lake to Mare Maris. This was going to be a silent ride between the two. The others would likely be curious as to just where they were headed off to in such a hurry. But then things like this didn't really ave time for explainations. He would deal with that when he got back from his little trip. " Remember". He said to Kitsume looking at her in the eyes. " We're dead men. No mercy. No regret. Only duty. We wipe out that thing and any other spirit touched that gets in our way. Understood?". EXP: 223 | |

The little beast smiled at the approach of Alicia, the hideous grin as warm and welcoming as it could manage to be with that multitude of teeth and that ooze coming out. It didn't even flinch at the approach of the sword that soon came to poke gently as its flesh. Oddly enough, a surprised expression came over its monstrous face. And then an almost instantaneous physical change came over it. The monster turned completely white, like a dove or a lamb, its blood red eye becoming an unsullied sky blue. Its formerly purple tinged tentacles became blonde and upstanding, not unlike a lion's mane if such a thing could be made by reformed tentacles. Now, it rested rather non-threateningly on its belly as its overall demeanor became cuter. It blinked at the woman once, then brought a tentacle across its chest in a "cross" pattern before clasping them, as though in prayer. It stood there, bowed in this pose, for some time before it finally opened its eyes again, a light seeming to come from within as it spoke with complete clarity and not the slightest hint of the primal noises from before. "Forgive me, dear knight. I have realized the sinfulness of my ways. Perhaps I might blame my mother under ordinary circumstances, but I was conceived in iniquity and born an impure creature. I relinquish my wickedness, and I will pursue the light. I think I can guess, but I wish not to make assumptions. What brings you to the front of my mother's home?" 282 || +1 TEXP (1st thread)

| The girl had been repeating that line for awhile now. Dead to the world. Yet he didn’t think that quite fit in with the Remnants point of view. A remnant was dead to both the world and to themselves. They were corpses. But then again, her way worked just as well as any other. Dead was dead. So long as she didn’t hesitate when it came to sacrificing herself for the greater good. Or indeed the slaughter. Then the wording of her own ways didn’t much matter to him. The trip would have taken some time. Mare Maris was some point away from the location that was detailed within the note and that left Belmont with enough time to go over his own notes within his head. They were facing down a demon. Or at least what the note said was a demon. Whether or not this note was a hoax or not had yet to be discerned. Going off the fact that it may not have been a hoax however, he kept in mind just what things could be important. This was Diabolus lake and was therefore going to be chalked filled with demonic activity. Finding one demon there was likely going to be more difficult particularly since the note gave no real description of just what the demon actually looked like. Grave senses would probably come in handy, but then they would only tell him the locations and areas of what demons/ spirits were in the area and their movements for the past few minutes. But judging by the numbers of demons that frequented that area, once again without any sort of description as to just what the demon looked liek finding it was going to be quite a hassle. Belmont looked up as the carriage slowed and ground to a halt. Belmont piled out. Regardless of whether or not it would be much use. Belmont closed his eyes, then as he reopened them. The pale blue of his iris began to become more aluminous, an attempt to sense the spirits that had been in the area. Their type and what direction they’d been moving in. | | So after such a long time of travel, Kitsume was rather happy to be getting out of the carriage. Grabbing her staff, she slipped out behind him. Her eyes glancing about the area and trying to figure out what would be done next. He was apparently doing something just standing there, so she left him to do it. Her own blue gaze settle on the horses. If something was coming they would probably be the first to know. So with a shrug, her voice broke through the silence of the moment, "Want me to unhook the horses? Or are we going to travel by foot the rest of the way?" Yes the fact that it might be a hoax, and yes it was on her mind, but she was just itching to get out of Mare Maris for a little while. Anything was actually better than sitting around on her ass all day.
With that thought in mind, she pulled her staff across her shoulders and rest her arms over it. Waiting on his answer, she would twist and turn at the waist. This was an exercise that she repeated often. It kept her shoulder muscles loose as well as kept her busy.

| | Fate was quite the mysterious thing. Those letters moving to the different faces of the planets scouring over searching for these mysterious warriors. Those who would be willing to help, or those in search of greed. Well as fate would have it one of these letters carried by the breeze has fallen upon a oni that wandered the woods. Rather deep into the woods in the northern direction, she had fallen upon a letter that, which carried by the wind, fell upon her face. Blinking several times she grabbed the letter and crumpled it rather annoyed that it hit her face. Though it was odd, a sheet of paper being carried by the wind this far, not hitting any of the surrounding trees, how could this be possible. She stared at the crumpled paper in her hands before she uncrumpled it and looked at it. Seeing the writing that was upon it and blinked several times. The symbols upon it told of a deal and offered a reward of a single wish. "Can grant any wish?" this was quite curious thing to have come across. "I wonder who has such a power." she said to herself as she looked towards the map. "I know that area..." she said to herself as she looked to her right. "Hmm..." she said to herself as she suddenly took off the ground and went straight up and above the trees. "Let's see now, I'm too the northeast, I got to head.." she suddenly pointed to the south. "That way." she smiled as she took off in the direction. "Let's see what this is about, I wonder if someone lost this paper." it might have been possible. Exp ::329 |

The small creature laughed heartily, amused by Alicia's surprised at its sudden transformation into a creature of the light. "Slay my mother?" The little monster blinked. "Oh. Well, I think you two should have a talk if you dislike her that much. There was a b-- Well, umm... I'm not sure what you'd call him anymore." The little monster crawled slightly past Alicia, in the direction of the woods, and stopped, turning to look back. "I have very little memory of my past life. It was so terribly long ago. I'm sorry if I was bothering you, kind lady. I'm also sorry if my presence continues to endanger you. I'll go away now where we won't be running these risks. I wish you good luck with my mother. Do be careful when you descend. There's a lot of... things that might try to hurt you when you start going down." With that, the creature began to bounce away, humming odd hymns from some other world below his breath. It left a slime trail of glistening, iridescent fluid in its wake. Apparently, despite being reformed, it was still a slug. 209 || +1 TEXP (1st thread)

The sheet of paper that the female oni crumpled up shook with a sudden anger, despite being in a currently uncrumpled state. Little would undo, it seemed, the indignity of having been crumpled in such a manner.
Or so the image of the hooded old man that burst forth in a flash of iridescent blue seemed to believe as he glared on the woman.
"What's your deal, you fat red bitch?" he shouted, shaking his fist. "It took me a long time to make and teleport these. I'm a dying old man." The hologram coughed. "This took a lot of energy. I know you're young and don't understand, but one day you'll be like me. Well..." the hologram looked her up and down. "Maybe not. People of your race tend to either live for a few seconds or for eternity, figuratively speaking."
He looked around, as though to confirm that they were going in the correct direction.
"Excellent."
The magical blue thing disappeared with the same suddenness that he arrived with, and it was as though the strange projection of the elder had never appeared. 206

Not much remained in the area for the man's grave senses to pick up. At this point, they had arrived close to the lair of the evil spirit mentioned in the map, and that was, paradoxically, hinted at by the lack of other spirits in this particular area. Much as house cats are frightened by the scent of a lion, so smaller demons steered clear of this stronger demon's home. However, the now infamous beast had not left its lair within the last fifteen minutes, nor was it within ten feet of the travelers. What might have come to his senses, though more likely his more mundane ones, was the lone magical influence on the area: a small monster that landed with a plop and a grin on a high branch above the carriage and immediately began talking in a quick tenor. "Hey, don't you think it's a little bit dangerous to be wandering out here by yourselves? Lady, you especially. If you're looking for a romantic spot, I'd recommend somewhere other than an area this close to the demons' lake. Lovely resort place called Mare Maris far away from here. You ever heard of it?" |

Height: 9 inches Weight: 1 pound General Size Reference: About the size of a soccer ball, excluding the wings Attributes: Average Description: The creature doesn't look very aerodynamic and appears to float by means of something other than its own wings. The helmet on its head appears solid and somewhat organic, possibly because of the way it joins with the wings. It has a small skull motif and is stitched together in a manner to suggest that it was made from the skin of some creature other than itself. Its mouth is catlike and its eyes are yellow and mischievous. It looks somewhat hairy, and its wings appear ragged, but leathery like a bat's and somewhat torn and don't look like they should be able to support him in the air. There is a smaller, less ragged, more shadowy set of wings below the large ones that connect with its helmet directly. It constantly emits a musky smell, like a goat or a hairy man who hasn't bothered bathing for a few days, not an uncommon smell in this era. Its voice is a cynical tenor and burdened with what one might think of as a slight New York accent. It bears a set of red claws that are impressive in proportion to its body. Much like the hell slug, it has a set of feelers atop its head, though these are atrophied and wave passively out behind it instead of actively sensing the air. [ EXP: 239 ]

| There wasn't much to sense in the area, just as he had suspected. And Kitsume wasn't far out of the carriage behind him. She asked about the horses, chances are they were probably going to get eaten anyways. So he nodded to her in response to that question. And thats when his senses picked something up, a small flying creature. Clearly by its appearance and the fact it could speak it was of demonic heritage. And thus its presence would not be tolerated. Belmont let it finish its sentence more out of manners than anything else. It had suggested they go to Mare Maris, and indicated that they were likely there to commit some foul act of debauchery upon one another. The nerve of the creature thinking that they had come to this place to fornicate. She was his subordinate. With one flick of his wrist, not even turning to look at the creature Belmont gestured at it. And spoke to Kitsume. "Kitsume". He stated blankly.
" Kill the demonic emissary".
With that order stated Belmont now had to wonder just how they were going to find the demon in question. Now they could hve questioned the creature, however since it was likely of demonic nature it would be prone to lying, and would more than likely invite them into a death trap rather than give valid information relavent to the point in hand. Whilst Kitsume dealt with the creature. Belmont scanned over the note once again in an attempt to find any clues that he had missed the first time around.

"Hey, who are you calling a demon?" the quick-speaking messenger cut in again in his fast tenor. "Or did you say demonic? You know what? It doesn't matter." A short hop and a stuttering flap of its wings carried it up to a higher branch, where its claws kept it steadily in place as he looked down on the couple again, smiling like a cheshire cat. "I wouldn't want you to go attacking me or anything, but it's like they say. If you defeat me, you still won't beat me. Beware my mom, yea?" He smirked, folding his wings smugly below his head. "And it's like they also say. Don't shoot the messenger. It's not like I'd be threatening you, you know what I'm saying? I'm just a scout. I go out and scout things. I guess I should ask if you bunch are friendly or not or something to that effect, but I don't really care. I'm just going to say that if you're here after the demon that some old coot about to croak told you to come slay for him, you're wasting your time." He seemed to almost laugh, the grin getting almost impossibly large. "Mom's not ever going to give that kid up. Might as well stop here and save yourself time and energy... and your lives. If that guy's magic isn't strong enough to kill us off, what makes you think you can?" [ EXP: 252 || +1 TEXP (1st thread) ]

The little monster showed no fear or suspicion as the woman climbed up. Branch after branch. He taunted her the entire way. "Hey, don't you think you're a little big to be climbing trees, duchess? Maybe lay off the pork rinds for a bit. Oink oink." Perhaps the creature meant it as good-natured jesting, but there was little good in the nature of his words or in his disparaging, cynical tone. The stinky little monster continued to sit his little round self there as Kitsume sat down near him. "Well, I'd tell a cutie like yourself anything." He winked an amber, cattish eye. "Mom doesn't live far away, Duchess. If you're really in that big of a hurry to die, then I'll personally escort you there." He looked down at Belmont, who remained on the ground, and the look was a glare of derision. "I don't too much like your friend, though. A shame you're going to follow him into death, you know what I'm saying? Here, before we leave..." The fuzzy, helmed little monster hopped on the branches, birdlike, until he was within reach of Kitsume. "Give me a little kiss first, yea? Before you die... or break this branch." He closed his eyes, puckered his lips and leaned upward and forward, the gesture exaggerated for the sake of the man below that the messenger assumed was her boyfriend. The hearts above his head were all but visible above his head with its blue lips. His little wings fluttered affectionately. [ EXP: 284 || +1 TEXP (1st thread) ]

The Call "Right..." Alicia muttered as the holy-slug-thing slithered off into the wilderness to repent for it's past sins or something.
The revelation that something had happened to the boy, while not a surprise in the least, did not bode well. If he was being tortured, or turned into something else entirely- standing around outside of the cave that would most likely spell her doom was a terrible choice. Nevertheless, she could not remain out here while another person- especially one she had sworn to rescue- was being made a plaything out of by a demon. Help or no help- she only hoped she could prevail on her own against the damnable ooze.
The Knight cursed under her breath and checked her sword- then her armor- before nodding and walking toward the dark cave before her. She drew the blade as she approached the tunnel- the weapon alighting the dark path before her and, hopefully, warding off any weaker beasts that Inky would decide to send after her. A slight shudder ran through her as she recalled the strange horse-men, and wondered whether or not the demon would be able to recreate such monstrosities outside of Torra's psyche. She was sure she could take one or two in a fight... but any beyond that would probably spell the end of the Knight.
Then again, her blade did convert the demonic slug outside to a strange being of holiness and whatnot. Perhaps the same would go for Inky and any other abominations it created? Or perhaps that was altogether too much to hope for.
Regardless, she descended into the darkness- hoping that she was not too late to save the boy.
