The Wolf Comes Knocking

So here Sera was, walking with Yuki into a village to help find people for his village. Why she was going, she really had no clue, but the man liked to be around her. A little too much for her shaky sanity. They approached the edge of town and she looked out in the meadows with their tall grasses. "Yuki. I am going to practice while you talk to the village elders" She touched his arm and smiled up at him. Her memories were still gone, but she did remember a picture of the child named noah. She remember that she knew him but nothing else like that, despite what they had tried to tell her a few days ago. "I will scream if I see that demon again." She assured him softly as she turned on her heel and began to march herself out to the meadows to practice the sword techniques that Battousai had left her to learn. She knew that there was a lot of confusion with the men in her life, and right now the only one she truly felt comfortable with was her master. He allowed her to be and gain her memories at her own pace. Well unless they dealt with sword play and then he brought them out as fast as he could. She moved out to the meadows and pulled the sword out and tried to perform the slash again. Still without any success. ....

The little village was small at the best. It was a sham of a thing, poor and struggling to survive against the onslaught of famine, angry monkeys from the sky attacking every couple of days. Beast from the meadows charging in to eat whatever food the little village had left. Bandits killing the men and raping the cattle. It was in desperate need of help. Or a safe place for them to meek out a living. There was a center well long dried up, kinda like the cows that kept getting plowed by the lonely bandits. A handful of people slaved away under the morning sun at farms that produced little to nothing. A hero was needed, a hero was....
"Eeeee!" was all that was heard as a man trying to keep his trousers up came running by Yuki on his way out of town. It appeared that he had on a bit of armor, but not much. The clothing and armor was charred and dented. Blood ran down his face from his forehead as he stopped beside yuki and screamed at him, "Don't go in there... it's haunted by a fiery rabbit. With big teeth and it leaps...." He screamed again as he hicked up his trousers and continued to run away from the village and out of sight.

Out in the field there was the roar of a bear, followed by the laughter of Sera. These sounds could be heard upon the tinkling wind as Sera disappeared into the grasses shaking her head and moving downhill from the village. She was out of sight and out of mind for the moment. The murmur of voices could be heard but not what was being said.

This said, the village was now quiet. Not a single peasant was left outside. While they had been looking at the guy running away with his pants down, the entire village had run indoors to hide. The wind picked up and the sound of a broken bell in the temple steeple could be heard. Eyes could been seen peering out of windows and the shadows of doorways. As Yuki continued to look around the place, a child skipped into the street. A small girl child when she saw Yuki, she blinked and scampered off to a house. The door to the house opened to reveal a very beautiful woman, as soon as the girl was inside the door, it slammed shut. The wind continue to blow and ring the abandoned temple's bell. It was a frightened sound. Even the cattle were missing. They were inside with the villagers to prevent rape from the unknown people. Looking into the center of town, Yuki would find an old man sitting on the edge of the dried up well.

The old man looked up with ancient eyes, eyes clouded over by age. Sightless eyes that saw more into the spiritual world that his soul would soon be floating around in. He smiled a toothless grin and tapped the long wooden staff he was holding on the ground. "Hmm you would like to pillage the welder? Not sure if we have one of those, but I'm such there is a young man around here would might be will to let you pillage them." He apparently was also hard of hearing. His toothless grin opened as he cackled gleefully, "Although why are men wanting young men nowadays is beyond me." His walking stick swept out and tapped Yuki on the leg gently and then on the shoulder. Then the old man got up and hobbled around Yuki repeating the process of tapping him with the staff. It was not hard, merely a way to get the specs of the man before his ancient eyes. "Eh, sonny? Why not a young spritely woman. Why is it always the cattle and the young men. What are is the world coming too. You are big enough, strong enough to get yourself a young sweet woman. Eh Sonny? hehehe...." He chuckled as she hobbled back to his seat on the fountain. "feel free to look around for that young man you wish to pillage. Take him with you though. This place is not safe for the kids or the cattle. Hehehehe."

While this was going on, Sera was down the hill talking with a horned half demon. their words could not be heard but she seemed to be smiling and making friends. The wind blew her hair back like fire as she spoke to the masked creature.

The man cups his ear and chuckles. "Well of course there isn't a Large portion of this village. We've been overrun with bandits, evil spirits, and undead monkey that attack from the sky. We're thinking about moving the village. But its way too heavy. Ehhh. Sonny? And you don't have to yell like that. I'm not deef. (spelled on purpose)" He turned to look at another house and small girl scampers out to him and whispers in his ear. The half demon could not hear what was being said but the old man then looked at Yuki and shook his head. "Ehhh. Sorry. I am so rude. I am Lee the village elder. I should have introduced myself. and this is my granddaughter, Sun-lee." the man smiled again and present the little girl who was around the age of 6. She curtsied and then scampered off. "But what is that you need, young man hopefully you aren't here to rape the cattle. The last guy was here to rape my daughter. But I fixed him." he chuckled in the weezing old man kind of chuckle and covered his mouth as he coughed. "I lit his pants on fire with the image of a huge rabbit, with big teeth that spit fire.... eh..hehehehe...eh...hehehe.."

In the meadows, the scene was unfolding of the half demon casting the heart seeking spell upon Sera and she went into a trance like dream state to see what she really wanted. Little did anyone know in the village, was that she was now at a crossroads and would soon need to figure out the answers to her questions of who and what she was to all these people.

"Eh Sonny? You want to move here? Now what would you want to move here? Not enough cattle where you are from? Or is it that you have a thing for undead monkeys? Eh..hehehe...Eh...hehehe." He slapped his knee like he was having a good ole time and the little girl snuck out again and whispered in the old man's Ear. Then he got a serious expression, "Oh really?"
The little girl nodded.
"I see. He said that?"
The little girl nodded.
"You don't say?"
The little girl nodded and placed her hand on her hip, tapping her foot.
"Alright, Alright. Well Sonny, my granddaughter says you want us to move into your village. Well now sonny. How do we know you want rape the cattle? OR kill the girls?" The man sounded awfully serious about this. "And where is your village? How many people do you have protecting it? Who are your allies, half breed? And what is your name?"

The old man's eyes cleared up and shone a sparkling blue of the most heavenly light. "Speak, oh half demon. Before I let my people to you. I do not wish for my family to mistreated." The act was all a ruse as the signature changed of the old man. He looked about 20 years younger after a flash of light. The little girl smiled brightly and giggled. "Grandfather is a true Kami." She explained before the old man lifted an eyebrow and shooed her off. "I was trying to keep that secret little one. Now scamper away." With another giggle, she was off to the house. The old Kami sighed and looked at Yuki. "Well you must have questions for me. Ask them only after you have answered mine."

In the Meadow, down would go Sera into a sleep and begin her process of dreaming her heart's desire. Her hearts desire was not very apparent. For one thing the heart is a fickle mistress especially one held by a Kami. Their light and goodness meant that their heart was big and held onto the love and comfort of all those they met and befriended. As for fickle, a woman is fickle and so is her heart, compounded upon that love was a complex emotion as was desire. One could desire an emotion, an idea, or even a person. All of this makes for a maze of intricate webbing with many possibilities.

The old man looks at the younger one in front of him and huffs, "Well, All I have to say is that for the past 20 years I have protected this village from every onslaught of bandits and everything else. And the undead monkeys are just a story to keep people away. But, aswith most of my kind, I wish to return to my place. My wife is long since passed into the next world. And I grow weary of the physical. Most of this village is my family or extended family. So if you plan on taking care of them. Remember one thing. I will be watching. Their care is utmost in my mind. If you do them harm or wrong, I will bring all that I am down upon you, young half breed." With that the people start coming out of the village. "You may expected them in a week. Now if you do not mind, I have my goodbyes to say." And with that the old man would get up and begining to walk away from the half breed.

Sera in the Field was just waking up and standing up from her dream, a new set of questions in her heart. She would be waiting for Yuki when he came out of the village, the bear gone. Then they would travel back to the village.
