Iskra couldn't deny that such a thing would be useful to her. After all, it seemed that having to actually oversee her city kept her from roaming like she used to.
Words were an interesting thing to her anyways. It seemed that they had a magic to them... they were able to take your thoughts and translate them into someone else's head. For this reason, she decided that it was crucial for her to learn to write at some point.

With this in mind, she made her way back across the miles of rolling western forests with one thing in mind as the sun set low on the horizon.
Namely, she wanted to see her friend, who knew exactly how to read as far as she knew... well, unless he was bluffing some sort of way, but she imagined it'd be hard to bluff knowing how to read.
She didn't conceal her appearance with any of her various transformations. Instead, she came as she first came to Jack: as a somewhat short, spotty-haired woman with dark skin and alert, blue eyes.
Darkness had overtaken the forest by the time she stepped onto the cursed lands.
Predictably, demons patrolled the outskirts, and with a pronounced nonchalance, she continued forwards past them, ignoring them as though they truly didn't matter.
And in her mind, they didn't. If they were following Jack, that made them at least a certain measure weaker than her. Besides, she wasn't that hard to recognize. Her appearance was quite distinctive, even in human female form.

Inside the out post that Jack had so fittingly called the temple of Obstinancy he was still making his research of blood magic. Using his new break through of the symbological markings upon the life forms within blood. He had already found that marking anti demon symbols on the blood kept the blood from being tainted by the curse within the blood of the Oni. Which would make transplants with other creatures possible. It was quite miraculous. But at the same time he wasn't quit edone with the research. He himself had already invented a new set of symbols that rather than keep demons back actually kept Kami back. And it was as Iskra was approaching his out post that he was experimenting by placing these symbols onto those life forms. A task that required a lot of paitence and concentration from him. A main reason why he had ordered the demons guarding the out post to make sure nobody was allowed inside.
As Iskra would approach the temple. She would find two guards and in the middle of them sitting in the doorway. The little boy from before. She may have mistaken him for Jack at first in possession of him. However his eyes were a brown colour. But they were glassy. Fogged. He looked up at her with very little expression on his face. The boy had been drained of pride. Repeatedly. It was now as if there was virtually no soul within him. It seemed that Jack had been keeping him as pet of sorts. He even dressed the boy in a similar manner to himself. ".....You would be Iskra...". Said the boy in a blank monotone voice. He looked at either of the guards, their faces didn't move either. ".....The master has requested no one bother him....he is busy in research....though he might see you...would you like me to ask?".

Iskra looked, first up at the two guards, as though admiring two fanciful statues, then to the little boy. He didn't have the proud manner about him that Jack persistently carried, so it was apparent to her after a moment that it wasn't the pride demon even before she got a glimpse of the boy's empty eyes.
"Research?" she asked as though the boy had mentioned Jack being preoccupied seeing how many cucumbers he could fit in his mouth at once. "Ah, you poor little thing. Don't worry about asking him. I don't need permission to check up on a room in my own outpost."
She pet the boy's head gently before she continued. Oddly enough, defeating Jack and apologizing to Lethe had turned her heart a bit. Perhaps it was the prolonged guardianship of the little Kokabiel worshippers in her little city that made her feel more protective of humans, but she felt a perceptible warmth towards any of the species that had thus far failed to spite her or get in her way.
Without the slightest bit of reverence, she shoved the door open. "Jack!" she'd shout to the man she very much still considered her friend. "Are you in good health? I have to ask you a favor."

Jack was just about to finish when he heard the doors to the temple opening and that voice calling out to him Asking him if he was in good health. Iit was almost like mokcing him. He knew that she meant the words that she spoke. She was an animal and didn't really have much comprehension for sarcasm. Regardless. The anger that built up in his at just hearing it broke his concentration. And with that his work was ruined. He would need to start over from the begining on this batch of blood. That was a good hours work down the drain just because his guards hadn't done their job. He gripped his one remaining fist, and swallowed down that anger. Knowing he'd have to supress it if he was going to be fooling Iskra at any point. He knew that he was going to have to un-nerve her. And the only real way he knew how to do that. Was to not be himself. When that is said it wasn't as if he was going to start doing backflips and cartwheels around the room but rather in that he simply would lack that certain something around her that Iskra had identified as an integral part of her " friend". No, he wasn't to be that anymore. Her actions had ensured that much. Whether she could be blamed for her nature or not. Was of no concequence to the Pride Demon.
She spoke of favours but Jack translated that very quickly. She had defeated him, the very point she was making rushing in here acting as if this place was hers. Only proved that further. There were no favours. These were demands from master to slave. And he would have to follow them. " What is it you demand from me?". He spoke quietly. A voice that was almost far away. Lacking the distinct normality that was Jack. To Iskra she might have been shocked to see the state that he was in. His skin flecked with dried blood and his clothes, still in the state they had been after their last fight. Torn ripped and bloody. His hair messed and unkempt. The lids of his eyes heavy and darkened as if through lack of sleep. No odd sense of nobility. Nothing that would indicate that this was a demon of pride. He spoke his words, adding in the word demand. Reflecting what she truely meant. EXP: 453 PWC: 442

The woman noticed the mild sort of manner that had overcome Jack, and her brow furrowed a minute as she attempted to interpret it. At first, she thought he might have been injured because of the copious amounts of blood adorning his form in bright red. He obviously hadn't changed them since she saw him last.
It was then that she noticed the stump where his arm once was.
"Paike ishki!" she started with a bit of concern, walking towards the other demon and completely failing to notice his change of the direct object of her previous sentence. "Your arm..."
She'd come close enough to examine it at point-blank range, should nothing stop her. "Can you not grow it back? I know you can shift your direction like me, but..."
She looked up to meet his eyes again. "This is unfortunate if you can't grow it back. There has to be a way."
Her brow forrowed in thought once more. "I might be able to do something like it, but I would have to learn how... I think if you taught me to read, it would help."

Interesting. He thought to himself. There seemed to almost be, concern in her voice. She spoke as if she was surprised that his arm was still missing. As if by some magic trick it would just reappear. Jack had many powers but regenerating damage like that was not one of them. His powers mostly focused on damaging other people. Causing destruction and devistation. His talent did not lie with curing the sick. But rather inflicting the sickness. He listened as she spoke of changing direction, he remembered the previous conversation they had about that. She essentially meant changing his form. And it was true. He could. But just as he had said to her before. Changing his form did not change him. He lost an arm. And thus in all his forms he would be missing that arm. Next she spoke kind words. But he would not been fooled by that fuax kindness of hers. His face did not change, nor did his eyes. Remaining passive. She spoke of curing his arm. But he did not wish this. He had other plans for that stump of flesh. Plans that like everything else would remain secret. Thankfully even with the open books around. She could not yet read or write. Thus giving him an oppertunity to hide his research.
" If it is your wish to learn, then it is my duty to teach".
Same voice. Same attitude. " One moment please". He moved away from her. And began to collect the books lying on the table. To her it would merely appear as if he was making room for the teaching equipment but in reality he was hiding his research. He put them away on a bookshelf and brought over some blank paper. A quill and an inkpot. As well as one particularly easily read book he could give her for training purposes. EXP: 363 PWC: 354

Not much time passed before Iskra's subconscious decided that she liked the new Jack. Well... like might not be the word for it, nor love. Lust would sum it up aptly, a lust that as an animal, she was rather powerless against. Her cultural norms placed a great deal of attractiveness on mild-mannered males, and she couldn't rid herself of those norms in a mere day.
So she was being seduced, even if it wasn't intentional. Perhaps she might have justified simply pouncing on him and forcing her will upon him if indeed she needed justification at all or if she wasn't there for the express purpose of learning to read. Maybe after the lesson they could fool around.
Her eyes followed his rear end rather lewdly as he went about putting away the books and papers and notes and things. She grinned.
With a bit of effort, she sat down near the table and brought her attention to the colorful book with its large markings and illustrations. Art, as she'd known it. Shapes. Those things grasped even by human children that wild spirits had difficulty with. She understood them, though, and they were wonderful.

Jack reached for the knife on his table and slowly dragged it across his remaining hand. In the entire time that he did so there wasn't a single change of expression on his face, his blood flowed down into the ink pot filling it up. Jack couldn't help but get the feeling thought that for some reason Iskra was staring at him. Was it that faux concern of hers or was it something else? His eyes glanced over ever so slightly and saw a smirk. There it was. The admitance of the fact this concern was not true. And that she was almost looking at him like a slab of meat. He remembered at that stage the point where she had almost ate him. And more than likley had ate part of him. He had to keep those memories down. Had to keep the anger out. He remained calm. Neutral. Picked up the quill. Bloodied slightly by the cut on his hand but none the less, he began to write symbols down. The basic symbols for learning would be those that made up the words.
" Come "
He gestured for her to come over and pointed at each of the symbols. From this point he would begin the basic explaination of the meaning of each of these symbols in making up individual words that she already knew in every day speak. He then moved onto using these symbols to sound out words that she knew. Like Demon. Or Kami. EXP: 282 PWC: 276

Iskra paid perfect attention to the letters and the sounds. That is, perfect attention as far as she knew. She always had a talent for correlating shapes to concepts. There was the shape of Jack's derriere, for one, that she immediately associated with pleasures. Indeed, she'd been there before, though that was a different time in diverse shapes.
There weren't that many shapes nor sounds to go with them, but they combined so fascinatingly. The hardest part was getting how they changed based on concept. After awhile of going over these things in her head, she felt her hand begin to slip off to the side where her teacher sat. Absolutely nothing changed about how she was going on with the lesson, except for the fact that she began to grip his rear quite possessively.
Should he not interfere, the grip would grow more intrusive until she had a handful. "Bee. Yuu. Tee. Tee. Right? Heh heh..." She squeezed firmly. "I like it. This reading and spelling stuff is useful."

Ok. Shit was just getting weird now.
Jack wasn't getting more angry by the sudden strange turn of events. But at the same time he was finding it difficult to retain this mask of passivity. Iskra was for lack of a better word molesting him. MOLESTING him. He had one arm for christs sake and looked as if he hadn't slept in days. Not that he particularly had to sleep. That was one advantage to being a spirit. But still he had to wonder just what the hell was going through Iskra's mind. As her grip got tigher ( and it was a tight grip) Jack tried to remain on subject with her. " Yes. Bitch Underworld Troll Troll...". He gestured to the " ABC's for demons" that he'd already wrote previous to this. Which would likely be Iskra's home work for reading practice. It was a rather amusing book which contained illustrations of each representation of the letter and made it easy enough to remember.
What was hard now for Jack, was keeping his concentration. That and his penis. It was an unconcious thing that was difficult to control. And he mentally cursed himself for it. " You are doing well". He said. Hoping that she wouldn't think he meant the molestation. But the timing had been wrong and well it was out there. EXP: 275 PWC: 267

The beast found her attention was swiftly running out. It wasn't that what Jack had to say was boring or anything, but the hours had passed and her cup of knowledge for the day had been filled. Her attention turned to more fun matters.
And it mattered not that the man's arm was missing to her. His tiredness appealed to her, in a strange way, and really, she had no reason to resist.
With a rather scary chuckle and a growl, she rolled over, pouncing on her teacher and sending his chair to the ground, if nothing prevented her from doing so.
Rather, her intent was to force her tongue into his mouth, which would be the start of very inappropriate behavior on her part, though she had absolutely no concept of why it would be inappropriate. After all, there were no such things as "professional relations" where she came from. It was simply acting on the moment.
Thus, she would attempt to pin him down as to better allow herself to force her will upon the crippled devil.

There are just certain things that, one can never really prepare for. One of these moments happened to be the person you considered to be the most hated in your current existance molesting you. A step up from that is of course what happened next. Said person pushing your chair back, and straddling / pouncing upon you. Now the falling down from the chair part hadn't hurt Jack in the slightest, after all the pride demon was currently missing an arm, and that wasn't what you'd call the most comfortable of things in the world. However what was even more uncomfortable than the missing apendage happened to be this woman forcing herself upon him. Not that his body in itself seemed to be complaining. But his mind seemed to be doing backflips in on itself. Should he resist? Better question. Could he actually resist? Of course he could. He could have unleashed his magics upon her. But then that would just lead to the same situation as before. And he was in no state to be repeating that. He'd watch. He'd wait. And he'd endure. And apparantly this was just one of those things that he'd have to endure. It did remind him of that time these roles had been reversed. And although he rued to admit. Part of him was curious as to what it would be like with her as a female.
They say theres a fine line between love and hate and if thats true then the same must have been said for sex and violence. Jack wasn't going to try and stop her, at this stage. Iskra was free to do as she willed. EXP: 328 PWC: 319

His lack of resistance drove her wild, and for awhile she did continue in her current form. After all, she bore the devil no ill will, and nothing really seemed out of place or suspicious to her about the behavior of Jack. Maybe he'd learned his lesson. Maybe tearing off his arm was what it took to put him in the proper place.
Then again, there was this issue that she was aware of... that is, the actual purpose of matrimony. If she gave in, it would produce children. She didn't really want children from her own womb... at least not yet.
Yet, Jack didn't seem like he could put up with a pounding from her male form...
...but put up with it, he would have to. A kiss and a fondle later, she'd pulled back and began morphing until she was the same draconic, male hyena she'd been on the day she raped the kami.
"Sorry, I don't want to bear offspring."
The explanation was quick, though there would be time for the pride demon to propose alternate solutions while she (or rather, he) patiently worked off the shreds of the other's outfit.

So things began to progress. And Jack had to admit that he wasn't entirely against this. He felt that it was akward considering hsi intense hatred for this woman at the moment, but ultimately just let his body do the talking. That was right up till the point where she transformed into that beast. And well. To hell if Jack was going to be having any sorts of sex with that thing. As she began to rip off his clothes. Jacks eyes began to glow, his magic activating. He became as one with mist. Transparant as he entered Iskra's body. Although he could if he wanted to. His faux passive nature required that he not take control of her body. Although it would be tempting to use this to his advantage.

A certain part of the beast's anatomy had become large, red, and engorged in anticipation, and now he found himself sorely disappointed. Rather, he had inadvertently huffed the entertainment for the evening.
He still trusted Jack to the extent that he didn't panic when the possession took hold. On the contrary, the fact that he didn't take over her body told him that the pride demon must have wanted to demonstrate something to the monster.
So, he simply lay over on his side impatiently and put a hind leg over his shoulder, taking a moment to lick and start relieving himself. It was rather annoying, but Jack was his friend. It was worth waiting, though next time he supposed he'd have to remember to have his scales on so this was less of a possibility in the future.

" I know what your thinking". Jack said inside of Iskras mind. Her eyes at this stage would be as red as his. " But you'll find you can move your body without issue". He gave her enough time to let it be as it was. And then he began to think back. Twenty years back. Iskra would have a few flashes in her head of Jacks memories. Jowan, the clan of pride and. Those early days of chaos, the reasons for Jack's hate of Kami. And then right back to his first memories. There was a woman. Quite a relatively attractive one at that. She seemed to be human. Which would probably surprise Iskra particularly about what happened next. The next few images and memories she would see were of Jack and this woman living with one another. Huddling for warmth on cold nights. Him looking after her. Getting enough food for her. She was, in Iskra's terms. Jack's first clan mate. A human.
And then the images he was looking for got in. Jack and this human having sex. " Sex education". Jack spoke to Iskra. The images of the two writihing with one another to the climax. And the final point of it being reached. " Sex itself doesn't cause pregnancy, its that final point that does it". The memory seemed to rewind to the climax of the two. Of he spilling his seed into the woman. Jacks memories thrust forward again, in no unliteral terms. It moved past his abandonment of the woman, the call of his demonic nature bringing him to hell. And to the image in his mind of him watching as two demonic entities rutted right in the open as he turned the corner. Once again the climax. Memories forward again. And a litter of children bore to the two. Of which Jack then proceeded to kill and use as Kidling ( like kindling but with children instead of wood). " So you see, its quite safe so long as that spilling of seed doesn't happen whilst its inside of you". Jack waited for a moment.

A side effect of being a conduit and storage place for souls, as it were, was becoming a conduit and storage place for memories and experiences.
This part was not new to the hyena. Having memories be shown that vividly and that intensely, made her put her hind leg in her ear and scratch, as though she might be able to dig the memories out of her head like so many parasites.
It was an unconscious gesture.
But after that, she thought on the images before her. If she was nothing else, she was a thoughtful creature, and though it took a minute for the gears to turn, she began to notice something in one of the scenes past the coitus.
There was the secondary scene of the two demons mating, of course, but the first one was far more interesting because it gave her insight into the pride demon's past.
She sat and stared forward, though in her mind, she were looking directly at the figurative screen with her head tilted to the side. "This human... Is that why you hate halfbreeds so much?"

If Iskra was able to feel what the souls inside her felt. Right now she'd find her question had filled Jack with a sort of. Sadness. It was a strange emotion from this creature of Pride. Once again the memories flickered back to the Kami chasing him away, his escape and subsequent return to the human. Who looked weak and malnourished. Eyes, expectant. But Jack unable to provide the food she required. Jack was a spirit, and whilst he could eat he did not have to. This human though was different. She required sustinance. Memories of Jack going out, looking. Then memories of him killing and bringing back food for her. " Is she why I hate half breeds?...perhaps". Memories of their union flickering again. " You remember, I asked you once to seek out someone with my scent. This is the reason. I thought there may have been a chance we..". He trailed off again. What Jack was saying in no uncertain terms was that their union could have possibly produced offspring. That he could have fathered a child. But Iskra had found nothing.
" I thought that I loved her back then".
Once again, that slight sadness seemed to be in him. " But that was when I thought I wasn't any different. Back when I didn't hear...didn't feel the call of my nature. It got stronger and stronger. Till I couldn't ignore it anymore and...". Jacks memories moved inwards again, the two travelling. Her able to interact with other humans but always returning to Jack. " She could not be with them because of me, I could not be with mine because of her". Then the memory of him leaving their bedside. And heading south towards the forest. Heeding the call. " It was easier". EXP: 356 PWC: 347

The experience being played out in Iskra's head held a certain beauty about it. If anything, it told her that Jack wasn't always the way he was now.
Somehow, when she had first stumbled upon the Seat of Pride, it was hard to conceive that the demon there, the one who had killed off his entire clan, had a story. Well, a story behind the mindless killing that she associated with parak. To her he had been an abstraction... a caricature... a 2D thing. She felt emotions on a base level, yes, but to her, demons felt them even less than this. It was an ugly thing, but the tragedy before her...
...they were more alike than even she thought, it seemed. The anxiety of not being able to provide for her family had her as well, but...
Well, it was simply a side of things that she hadn't considered. She'd tried her best to find one person in all the world thinking it was some weird fetch quest. Back then she'd been a horrible tracker as well. She could smell, yes, but hyenas tracked things by sight.
"I know you needed hell, but what did you want? Did you still love her?"
She shuffled her imaginary feet.
"She didn't look everywhere!" a voice cackled from the back of her head, somewhere invisible.
Iskra rolled her eyes.

This conversation within Iskra was getting all too uncomfortable. Bringing up things that he didn't really want dug up. But then it was inevitable at this point. He had to answer her. " Did I still love her? Yes I suppose". Memories flashing again before them. Jack on the road out into the southern forest.Stopping. Looking back. Looking forward at the forest, the tug of the call. Of his nature pulling him closer to hell, something that he needed. A pain within him. A step forward then, an echo. Little more than that, the sound of his name being called in the distance. Swallowing of- shame? And continuing forward. Away from her. Closer to hell. " I needed hell. She needed humanity, regardless of what I had wanted to do, what I had felt". The bitter after taste of all this was getting to him.
" I fought it as long as I could, but it was like a sirens call...I did not wish to leave but nor could I stay, and where I was going I knew she could not follow. If she did. She would have died".
Once again, Jacks first experience of hell. To Iskra entering hell would have been far different. It would have been chaotic. But it was an established chaos. The hell she would have seen through Jacks eyes in those first years dwarfed everything. For one, there were far more demons. Whilst Jack's call for the taint had been saited. It seemed more like a call to his death. He was constantly on the run from one creature or another. In a struggle of kill or be killed in every minute. Having to run. Having to hide. Fear. A constant. The hell she would see was a place of absolute terror. Where the demonic hordes numbered so that they stretched from one side of the null plains, to the other without stop. A mass carpet of demons. All fighting. All killing one another. Nowadays. Hell was far more.
Empty.
And this was why.

The orgy of murder that used to be hell did make the hell that she walked in on seem rather... tame.
Then again, there were the old stories she knew... the old lore... how her kind originally took one look at all the people killing each other, shook their heads, and walked out of hell to reside in the western woods. For that reason, her kind were considered weaker than the other kind who stayed, and the ones who left looked down on the ones still there. Her clan had even gone so far as to give them a name in stories, though most of the wild spirits simply forgot all about hell or only went down there on occasion as some country people are wont to go into towns for shopping or pleasure.
"Maybe you were right. If you continued to deny yourself, you might have hurt her eventually."
She continued to think, however. Perhaps it wasn't her place to judge the situation, but she found herself examining it because it seemed so... alien.
"The female couldn't hunt well on her own? Well, she seemed burdened... if you finished in her, as you say, how was she not carrying little ones?"

"I don't doubt that I could have". He spoke in response to eher comment about him leaving before he had been drawn to hurt her. It was true enough that for whatever reason most demons decided on constant aminosity towards humans. Perhpas it was some sort of percieved jealousy or maybe it was just the predator prey instinct. Regardless she spoke rightfully. Leaving was inevitable regardless of the result. Although she did pose a point to him. She was human. Well humanish. She always had that taint around her that he now assossiated with his own kind. But she also had the weakness of humanity. If she hadn't been able to hunt on her own in those days. Perhpa sit was that she was with child. But that in itself was no new revelation. He had already suspected that it was a possibility and thus that information added nothingNew to his process of information. Regardless of ifs and whats and buts. The point was that now there was no real way to find out. She was but one human among millions. And thats if she was still alive. It was a possibility. No. A probability. That without him. She may have been killed if she didn’t join other humans. If she had looked for him. “ Yes, perhaps”.

In his own mind, or perhaps in the physical world (it was hard to tell when one was laid atop another as though one eye were in the spirit and one eye was in the flesh), the shapeshifting demon scratched behind an ear. "Well, I don't believe I looked hard enough the first time. After all, if you have a little half parak running around, you wouldn't be able to fault me much for having my own, right?"
The scratching stop and he stood to his feet, a determination coming over her as he thought of this thing he could do to help protect the infant life of his within the kami. Finding Jack's kid... well, even if he killed it...
Then again, he could cross that bridge when he got to it. If he was the kind to off his own offspring, then he'd be distracted by that.
But that reason was flimsy compared to the curiosity of this story. She wanted to see if the relationship culminated in a little Jack or Jackette roaming the earth. Would the child be of a parak mind as well? Would the child be a good person and ashamed of its infernal heritage? Would it hear the same call?
It was at that moment that the age difference between Iskra, or as he was now, Iskren, and Jack. If he was old enough to produce offspring as long ago as these memories seemed to be (for memories, like most things that grew old, acquired a different texture the longer they existed), then that would make him much older.
Then again, how did parak age? Did they just pop into existence one day at full maturity? She knew that hyenas and their kin spirits were born with teeth and open eyes unlike the soft dogs of man. Childhood was a handicap in her world. How much more would it be a handicap in Jack's...
These things put her into a thoughtful silence for quite awhile.

"Theres a difference". Jack said to her in their current shared conciousness. And ultimately there was. Iskra saw her own reasoning in this. That if Jack had a halfbreed son or daughter runnning aorund somewhere than by all rights so should Iskra be allowed that much. But Jack didn't believe in that. He didn't deny Iskra her rights to procreate with humans which apparantly was her plan. But to create a half kami half demon? That was something entirely different. His child if it existed. Would share human weaknesses. But it would not have the blood of both darkness. And light. That and there was something else. " My child would be half human, yours Kami. I don't take offense to you having children with humans. But Kami thats another story. That...and well. My offspring may be running around as you said. But I want to kill it as much as I want to kill yours". Jack didn't really know what else to say to Iskra. However thankfully he'd steered off the subject of sex for now. More into his senses. He didn't really want to be involved in any particular activities like that with Iskra, particularly in this form.
The Matriarch seemed to have fallen quiet. And that suited Jack just fine. That is. Right before the Man Behind the Door decided to speak his own opinion into the matter. "Hey....heeeeyyyyy". He said. Calling out within the mind of Iskra. All you souls down there....you think you got away?....nope nope nope....not enough down here in the cold...not enough company in the dark...". It was at which point Jack had forgotten just what the yellow eyed demon had done to those souls who had tried to escape death in the library. He had got to them somehow. It seemed that he had what you might call a grudge against those who wern't stuck on the precipice of Sheol like himself. " Gonna getcha...gonna pull you in......this grave is deep...deep and fine...let the dirt fill your mouth and the worms choke up your insides!". A quick flash of the door. Then a flash of those yellow eyes in the dark. Then without warning....their vision would be filled with the library. Rushing towards the door. The door creeping open and.
Jack forced himself into it. And slammed the door shut. " Close one....". Well he was here in the library. And- " Iskra what are you doing in my library?". EXP: 495 PWC:

Iskra turned, now in her default hyena form, and her mouth full of papers. She chewed pensively, her brows furrowed together and her jaw working up and down like a cow's. The beast offered no answer to his question, simply continued chewing before slowly moving her head away, looking around the strange place she found herself in.
At length, she released the papers to continue their quiet descent to the ground. "Not birds." Her voice was low and neutral, almost distracted.
With slow, ponderous movements she made her way through the flurry of fallen pages, walking out of the hallway towards the shelf. Painstaking silence marked her steps. Her body hovered mere inches above the ground. Her crawl kept her form level, and her ears were perked forwards towards her target.
She had no idea what the vision was that had just transpired, and she couldn't really smell much for the moment. It was a common sort of disorientation from the landscape changing so suddenly... or maybe she simply couldn't smell things in her own soul.
When she finally approached one of the many, many shelves, she lifted herself up so that her front paws rested across a few of the volumes, and with a digging motion, she pulled them backwards.
The books toppled to the ground unheeded, and she stuck her nose into the gap she'd created. "Why does That One always hide? I'm tired of him. He speaks things that make no sense. Is he hiding in here?"

She hadn't quite answered his question yet. But that didn't matter, she seeed less worried about just what this place was and more concerned about the one who had brought them here. In truth Jack had no idea that the man behind the door was capable of doing something like that. But he guessed that whilst in his possession form, Jack was essentially more of a spirit, less tangible. And that would probably makee it easier for the man behind the door to manipulate him. Those words. Manipulate him. As if he was some kind of puppet to control. And yet. Here they were. And here Iskra was sniffing around this place reserved for madness. Two demons that arguably didn't belong. She asked about the man behind the door. And Jack answered only the way he knew how. From what he had learned. " He's been here since my first trip to this place...over there...". Jack pointed to the maintence corridor. The one with the different style of painting. For those with any kinds of senses. The corridor would seem almost..seperate to the library. Like a sewn on hypernumery limb. A shoddy job done of it too. The corridor dripped with water, lit with a single blinking lightbulb.
" I call him yellow eyes. Or the man behind the door. From what I have learned from Ceila...the leader of madness...he's been here ever since before the dawn...and all of the demons of madness seem to be absolutely terrified of him..."
Jack rubbed his chin with his own single hand. " I think. He might be a demon from before the dawn. Like myself. But..he doesn't hide...I think he's trapped there....the how of it though...I don't really know". EXP: 495 PWC:

By the time Jack finished his explanation, Iskra had begun removing more books, sending them all tumbling to the ground in a great pile. They fell painfully onto their spines and several of them opened from the momentum. Most of these were predictably blank, but she wasn't actually looking at them. "I do smell something," she mumbled aloud, almost to herself. "It's just in the middle of this, but I can't seem to reach."
Round one with the bookshelf was over. She withdrew and trotted to the other side, pushing firmly forward.
With a satisfying crash, the shelf fell forwards. The hyena looked at the fallen fount of knowledge, her tongue out and her mouth hanging open in what could best be described as a grin, before she cackled and moved forwards to stand atop the thing and start pulling at the wooden planks beneath her.
When she'd crunched and shredded away for some time, she seemed to find what she was looking for. She dipped her head and retrieved an object. It was a book bound with a spotty cover. Satisfied, she trotted jauntily back over to Jack. "I found it."
Her short tail wagged like the world's smallest windmill before her eyes rolled towards the door that Jack had closed moments before. "Ah, well, if he's trapped that's good. It does not matter who he is or where he is from if he's stuck there like a dead thing in the ground."
The beast's blue eyes turned once again to Jack. "Does this belong to anyone? I want to have it. Smells nice."

Jack had to wonder at this stage just what Iskra was up to with her prodding around the bookshelves. She said that she could smell something but he had no idea what. Generally in this place of madness there was no sense of smell and even what you saw was entirely unreliable. So when she prodded over with this strange spotted book Jack didn’t really know what to say. It was obvious that she could not keep the book, for as tangible as it seemed in this current reality, in the real physical world. There was no spotted book. It was merely the manifestation of someone’s memories and experiences. He looked over the book however and determined that there had to be some reason as to which Iskra had decided to pick this one in particular. After all if senses meant absolutely nothing in the library then what was to be said of this?
“ The books in this place aren’t really books, from what I’ve learned...this place is a meta physical manifestation of knowledge...in these halls lie the knowledge and experience of every living creature, demon, Kami, human but there’s a catch to it....”.
Jack lifted one random book from the shelf and opened it. Inside the pages were blank. “ You can only ever read the books that have something to do with you, your own memories. Your own experiences”. Jack nodded to the book. “ You were drawn to it for a reason, try opening it up. See if ou can read it with what I taught you earlier”.

The hyena tilted her head to the side. Meta... physical... what?
The other words he said made more sense, in a way. She could comprehend the abstraction of knowledge, since she understood what a soul was and understood knowledge to be an acquired part of the soul. The other words didn't make nearly as much sense, but she would make do with them.
She spit the book out briefly and allowed it to fall open.
The pages were blank still, but Iskra seemed to notice something in them. She squinted her eyes and leaned her head down curiously, making several long, loud sniffs.
Her bestial brow furrowed as she pulled back from the pages. "Wow." She looked down at them, as though in disbelief before turning the page and resuming her smelling of the pages. Every once in awhile, she stopped and sat back on her haunches, as though in deep thought over what she'd smelled. It took her awhile to digest, but she would soon stoop back down and resume scenting, as though her nose was allowing her to read some deep or fascinating tale.

It had been long ago that Jack had came to the conclusion that Iskra was far beyond his understanding. So when she started smelling the blank book and seemingly taking interest from it he was both perplexed and not surprised in the slightest. The girl had only just began to learn to read, and if that was a book connected to her in some way it would make more sense that she was going to be reading it in a way that made more sense to her as opposed to the usual sense to theres in the term reading. Jack's own eyes however were drawn back to that corridor. The door he had just managed to stop from opening. He knew that the man behind the door was capable of opening that crack with enough effort. The door itself was blackned and scarred. As if it had been burned. A weakened seal. Weakened by whatever had happened in the dawn. Jack knew that there were books that related to him among these articles. Somewhere in here there would likely be his memories and experiences of doing the blood magic research that he wished to keep so seeperate from everyone else. But then again the ultimate safety measure was in place with this thing. No one could read it but you.

The hyena looked up, a distracted look in her eye. "It's... a bunch of words." She thought such a thing might prove difficult to explain if Jack's nose was as weak and undiscerning as hers was in human form. Though people often viewed her kind as primitive, they did have their own sort of language... things told in cackles and grunts and stenches. Indeed, one could say she'd written many brief notes with her anus.
Much like calligraphy, each little pungeant chemical was a character-- a concept or a letter. Among normal hyenas, these messages were very crude and primitive. Among the mystic beasts, the scents formed words and the words formed messages that could theoretically attain a complexity on par with anything in the libraries of man.
She took another deep whiff, then sat back on her haunches again, reciting plainly.
Quote :
Will you go with me, sweet maid, Say maiden, will you go with me Through the valley depths of shade, Of night and dark obscurity, Where the path hath lost its way, Where Paike has forgotten the day, Where there's nor life nor light to see, Sweet maiden, will you go with me?
The beast leaned down and inhaled again, closing her eyes to sort out the words and remember them before she started on the next stanza.
Quote :
Where stones will turn to flooding streams, Where plains will rise like ocean waves, Where life will fade like visioned dreams And mountains darken into caves, Say maiden, wilt though go with me Through this sad non-identity, Where parents live and are forgot And sisters live and know us not?
The process of sniffing and talking was repeated for the final half of the poem as well, though Iskra's voice grew increasingly grave with each line delivered.
Quote :
Say maiden, will you go with me In this strange death of life to be, To live in death and be the same Without this life, or home, or name, At once to be and not to be, That was and is not-- yet to see Things pass like shadows-- and the sky Above, below, around us lie?
The land of shadows will you trace And look-- nor know each other's face, The present mixed with reasons gone And past and present all as one? Say maiden, can your life be led To join the living with the dead? Then trace your pawsteps on with me-- We're wed to one eternity.
A frown tugged at the corners of her mouth, and her brows furrowed as she looked down at the pages. The last lines seemed to hang in the air like the pages falling all around. "It bothers me."

Jack looked down at Iskra as she began to read the story out to him. It was a strange kind of poetic format, one that Jack recognised all too well. He had encountered it many times in the library and that stuck in him a question that he would need to explore later. This was one of those strange moments in which Iskra was once gain not understanding just what had happened between the two of them. And it was better that way, it left him with the advantage there. Perhaps it came down to their forms ater all, Iskra took the form of an animal and Jack for the most part a human. He thought as a human did, and she thought as an animal did. Perhaps animals would do thusly to their kind and not be in danger for it. Humans. There was the eye for an eye thing to factor in. And Jack as a demon of Pride. Would make sure he took more than just one eye. " I've been writing things down that I've learned about your kind and their mythology". He stated rather bluntly. Examining the books to the left of Iskra.
" If yours is to be a kingdom great, then perhaps I should scholar a few lore books for a library. Chronicle the history of your people".
Jack let that offer stand in the air. It was a faux one though, and would provide to the false sense of loyalty and passivity that he needed to maintain. At least. For now.

Iskra pawed the book cover closed and looked over to Jack, a concerned look in her deep blue eyes that rapidly faded in the face of his overwhelmingly passive manner. It was SO soliciting. She grinned at him, a quick chuckle as her mind turned to lewd scenarios for a moment.
"That's a good idea." She might have called him a delectable little slut, but such words lay beyond the realm of her readily available vocabulary. Instead she looked at him with a hungry wistfulness, as a hunter might look upon a family of deer during a famine. "I think I'll take you up on it."
She shortened the already short distance between them with a sliding sort of movement that seemed to grow more furtive as her form broke down. Rather, the outline of her body became harder and harder to see, and by the time she was visible again, one could not have recognized her.
Specifically, she'd become smaller, but longer. Her spots were missing and her skin was a light lavender, and she looked like a white-haired woman with tribal sorts of purple tattoos on various parts of her body, which was naked, though concealed partially by her extraordinarily long, white hair. Her eyes had become amber as well.
None of this was as extraordinary as her method of locomotion, however. Her entire body below her thighs had become the lower body of a massive serpent.
It was the form of the beast that Jack had exsanguinated long ago in that snake pit in hell.
Almost as a matter of instinct, she'd attempt to wrap the pride demon in her newly-formed coils, and, if successful, would hug him from behind around his shoulders, snuggling into his neck as though nothing unusual were transpiring at all.

Jack watched as Iskra strangely transformed in front of him. And now he found this form extremely strange and yet twindging on familiar. Thats when he recalled his and Iskra's first little trek into finding Jack some land to conquer in what would become Pride's Bastion. The snake thing he had killed and she had takens eggs. He had to wonder if this was actually Iskra or the snake that would no doubt be quite upset with just what Jack had done. But then remembering that Iskra could take the form of anything that she had previously devoured and well she had swallowed that thing down faster than Yuki's mangina had swallowed down her cock ( or was thusly implied when she had spoke of raping him). Jack didn't really move, just letting Iskra do as she was. Hugging him. THe closer they got together. The closer Jack felt to giving into that animal urge. No. Not lust. But the one that all predators feel when they have their prey in the perfect position.
His face so close to her neck. He could have just bitten down. Right there and now. In front of him the skin. It would be so easy to pierce. His mouth opened. Trembling. Almost as if tempted to do so. But. He drew back. Holding his needs for killing in place. But then. It wasn't just that was it? Ever since Jack had experimented on that vampire spirit and adapted its magic to suit his needs. He'd had that hunger. That blood addiction. And being in a close place like this. It was almost too tempting for him to resist indulging that addiction once more. But. Resist he would.

"You seem tense," she said thoughtlessly, her voice having become a hiss from adopting another's vocal cords. Indeed, she had become curled around him just tight enough not to throttle or kill him, but tight enough to feel his pulse. Rather, she hadn't yet grown accustomed to this form to the point where she could summon it outside of her soul, but now was as good a time as any to get used to it.
Yet, the fact that she wasn't entirely sure how to sexually assault him in this form without outright changing its gender forced her into a more romantic set of actions. Slowly, the monster's tongue snaked out of her mouth and met the flesh of the demon's neck, and with equal slowness she began to lick. The coils tightened, but only slightly, though that was a manifestation of her own lack of control and current level of excitement.
"Something on your mind?" she asked between strokes of her tongue, the vacuousness of her voice making the question seem almost apathetic. Her arms sliding down to the hem of his shirt and beginning to work it off.

Jack not sure how to react, simply didn't. Until something caught the corner of his eye which caused him to jerk slightly under Iskra's grasp. Likely however this would probably just be taken as a reaction to the licking. As he settled down though. Jack would turn to face Iskra. Eyes closed seemingly relaxing in the moment. He brought his hand up to her face. Stroking her cheek before. Poking her nose. " Beep". He opened his eyes. And what Iskra would see now at this point. Was an odd glaze of yellow covering most of Jack's eyes, with only a slight spark of red present within. Then across his face, growing like a poisoned vine up the side of a building. A grin began to manifest. And then. He laughed. It wasn't any kind of laughter that Iskra would have been able to hear normally. It was the kind of laughter that transended emotion. It wasn't of pain, of sorrow. Of joy. But all those things. All those things that combined to make madness precisely what it was.
" Nice tits".
The man behind the door, now possessing Jack commented. His other hand moving down and giving them a quick squeexe. " Not sure how the cocks going to fit in though, that is a bit of a question". He raised an eye brow and then laughed again. " Oh I know!, how do you shit? I suppose I could fuck that". His eyes moved down to her tail. " Then again, could get a tight ol'squeeze. Might need a bit of lube....and...". He looked around. " I don't think they sell sex acccessories in libraries..".

Initially, nothing really appeared off to the ophidian monster of a woman. After all, these things made sense in her own mind. Beep sounded terribly close to eep, which was a noise of fear or possibly supplication. Having her nose touched was normal as well. Her kind touched noses every now and again. It was a greeting sort of gesture, like an open-armed hug or a handshake, though the significance of doing it with ones finger was lost on her. Either way, it only served to make her more aroused in the entirely alien way an entirely different class of creature was.
Then he laughed. Once again, nothing seemed off. Laughing was a sound of supplication as well, though it didn't occur to her on a conscious level that in her experience men never laughed before sex or a meal, even if male hyenas did.
But it seemed that his alluringly shy nature had dissolved, replaced by something she might attribute to the old Jack. After all, it came off as cocky the way he grabbed her enlarged, tattooed bosom, and the neutral tone had fled from his voice.
Either way, the change in mannerisms was less of a turn off and more of a discontinuation of the inadvertent flirting he'd been doing. Her mind once again became distracted.
"Actually..." Her tail uncoiled from the demon, and she slithered over the paper-coated floor, looking down over her back, then her front, then laying down and contorting herself in an attempt to get the gist of this new appearance. "...I'm not sure how I do. Maybe I could eat something and see? This is weird. I've never been a... reptile before." Her slitted eyes met Jack's, and it was then that she noticed the yellow. For a moment, she simply studied the new color, wondering if it'd been there before and perhaps she'd missed it. Something about it was very familiar. "Maybe they have a book about it in here? Oh, wait... that color..."
She quickly turned her head and darted a glance towards the door...

So an extremely strange thing had happened in the short time that Iskra had been in the library. Normally the man behind the door could not possess Jack without Jack’s own consent. Or if Jack himself was unable to really resist it. But this was the library this was he man behind the door’s domain. Or at least part of it. The only place where the demon was real. For he certainly did not exist in the more tangible physical realm. As Iskra would look at the door. And would se ethat the it had creeped open ever so slightly. Just enough that one could sense the dark intent and power behind it. Sheol. Or the edge of it anyways. The yellow glazed eyes of Jack, or at least the person who was in the body of Jacks stared down at Iskra and thought about her words. “ Hm yeah that said I don’t think that theres anything really editable in here, not even sure if the books work”. Stretching the hand that had groped her earlier out he grabbed a book from the nearby shelf. Opened his mouth and took a bite. For a moment there was a hole in the paper that he had bitten into . He looked as if he was chewing and then went to swallow. The point in the book he had bitten into at that stage slowly began to reappear as if he hadn’t eaten it at all. His face looked quizzical.
“..Hm..odd...it disappeared as I was swallowing it.....suppose thats shitting out the window...”.
He tapped his chin. “ Oh! I know, Jack’s a blood mage right? Couldn’t I just use those powers to theoretically make you bleed from your couch? Then we could find it!”. He seemed awfully excited by this prospect. Overly so. “ Then again I suppose it’d be a bit weird doing it with a lamia...thing......buuutt you wouldn’t be the first snake like bitch I’ve had between the sheets”. A wink followed.

The monster frowned, her arms folded and her hair bristling slightly with irritation. "I'm a naga, parak, and I think I know what's going on here."
One long-nailed finger descended and pointed, accusing, at the yellow-eyed entity. "If you're that guy from behind the door, I hope you know I won't go easy on you for interrupting my fun."
Her amber eyes narrowed. "It took me a long time to get Jack to the point where he'd actively come on to me in that very charming, passive way, and right when I'm about to take advantage, you pop up out of nowhere. I bet if I actually attacked, you'd just go back into hiding like the coward you are."
She reached her right arm out to her side, as though leaning against a wall, and a chain with a set of four claw-like blades (from an old-world lawnmower, no less) appeared from the ether in a puff of smoke.
Twirling it, she continued. "What's your deal anyways? I thought you were imprisoned behind that door. Who opened it, and why do you not simply leave and leave me to my mate?"

“ Oh really you mean you DIDN’T get it right away?...Man how the hell has Jack managed to have trouble with you”. He shook his head. Then the blades and chains came out and there was a sudden pressure between them in his crotch. “ Kinky”. But the man behind the door shook his head. “ And no, I wouldn’t. Your forgetting. This is Jack’s body. You attack. Go ahead. I don’t give a rats ass about you, or about him...”. There was something in that that would have indicated to the careful observer of a carefully placed lie. At least in the last part. The man behind the door did care about Jack. But just why wasn’t quite for common knowledge. “ Besides. You couldn’t really hurt him here anyways. Your forgetting that by technicality. This place doesn’t actually exist. We’re inside your mind. Your soul. “. The man behind the door looked back at it and he shrugged. “It was awhile ago, but Jack did...ya see theres a lot that I know that Jack doesn’t. Sometimes you just need a different perspective on things”. Those yellow eyes glinting away.
“ As for why I came on out!...well... I don’t much like you here, The souls inside you they cheat cheat cheat, its like mocking me...each of them had a chance, had a life but I didn’t, I just woke up in the darkness. Behind that fucking door”. He appeared at this stage to actually be getting angry. However, between each of the angry bursts there was the odd giggle. “ Stuck behind the door in darkness so long I don’t even know what the light is, I don’t even know what life is...the souls in you they got their chance at life, and they belong in the darkness!, me...I didn’t get my chance! Hahaha....Why should they get a chance and I don’t?...Everyone who cheats death I’ll drag em in and drag em back...take them in to keep me company, back to where they belong”. He let out a snicker. “ Jack? Your mate?...hahahaha...>”. He took a deep breath smelling inwardly. “ Taint is like a cum stain on a carpet....rub all you like its not going to be coming off any time soon....Maybe you had your chance...but its passed now...”. Enigmatic messages from the man behind the door. He raised both hands and stepped in close to her face. Nose to nose. Eyes to eyes.
“See what I see behind this door of mine, watching your world through translucent eyes like mirrors that are not my own. Paw prints and shadows, and twisted sense of self. An animal trying to know the world, trying to know the shadow. The beasts they roar in time with the bell, the knock knock knocking drives them forward. The spine of a god plays its merry tune as the dark god sleeps in the cold and in the shadow..hehehehehe....to see the eyes of a clown from the view of a child, to see the face and nose and hair. To feel the terror that brings you closer. South West. East East.....hahahaha....The sparrow flies, a bitch dies....a wolf does howl and a warrior cries....hahaha...the darkness finds us all...and it’ll find..every...single...one..of you....there will be no one to eat you Iskra....no one to carry your legacy...no one to save you...when the door starts to open....and the sleeping god awakens...”.
A final laugh. And then the yellow of the eyes began to fade. There was the ound of the door shutting ominously behind them. A pair of yellow eyes staring through the fire scarred glass.

More words came. Iskra listened patiently.
His declaration of apathy for both her and his host made no sense as far as she was concerned. After all, if it wasn't iportant, why would the helldemon even bother talking to them or leaving his room? It made no sense for Jack to go opening the door either, since he appeared to have some kind of anxiety concerning this yellow-eyed person, so she mentally dismissed this as another lie as well, unless it was as she assumed and helldemons were just inheritly irrational creatures... well, that and he was male...
Where she might have once been frightened, her current alpha status combined with a string of victories in every combative encounter she'd found herself in caused her to simply skip fear all together and go straight to anger. Even in his word salad, she could occasionally pick out phrases that aroused her ire. The last phrase, especially, sounded like a challenge.
"Pretty big words for a failure parak who admits he's a failure. You'd better hope that door doesn't open," she snarled rather nastily into the room, speaking to the fading yellow. "I'll show you who there'll be no one to save. Yea, go on. Get back to your grave where it's safe. Stay until you find some balls."
She fumed for only a moment, but somehow this entire area had become unpleasant. She was a creature of confrontation, and having an incorporeal foe who she couldn't truly confront angered her to such an extent that it tempted her to go yank the door open. If he wanted to see the daylight so bad, by Paike, she would show it to him... right before she beat said daylights right back out of him.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Well, that, and she felt violated on Jack's behalf. It was one thing for Jack to wantonly possess her, but it was quite another for this cowardly stranger to go possessing Jack. Her coils once again curled about the pride demon. "Are you okay? Umm... are you back? I mean... Are you you now?"

There was a mild chuckling form beyond the door. Nothing much though that would have really made any sort of difference to Jack or to Iskra. Jack slowly opened his eyes but just like before they were glazed over. Glassy, as if there wasn't anything there. Jack just looked at her straight in the eyes. At this point Jack already knew just what the man behind the door had done the only difference was that he didn't much care about it. At least not at the moment. He felt like he had when hee had first entered the library. How he felt whenever the man behind the door rode his body. Like the madness was some kind of alcohol that filled his system and poisoned his mind. " As much of myself as I have ever been". Jack said, it was an answer that left more questions. Jack knew that the madness demons were the only ones of the psyche demon subtype to actually try and find out what they had been before hand. And with the man behind the door riding him. He had sensed his questions about this.
Jack didn't know what he was but he had always told Iskra that he didn't really care. And perhaps he didn't care about what he had been god knows how long ago. But there were questions unanswered. Why did he wake up where he did. Why was he connected to the man behind the door? And why was he drawn to Hanabi from the start?
"...I..have things I-.."
He stopped talking and at that moment the library ceased to be. Jack was once again standing over by his research table. A hand on his fore head. He didn't look over at Iskra. Just spoke. " Please...I need time to rest. I do not feel well". EXP: 340

The illusion finished. They stood out in Terra once more. Iskra stood in her woman form, her spotted hair waving for a brief time with a force not unlike momentum. Her eyes, cold and blue as usual, fell upon her friend and her ears tuned to his simple request.
He really did sound winded, but she strolled over to him slowly nonetheless, meeting him where he leaned against the research table and taking him into a tight, affectionate embrace full of genuine warmth. "It will be okay," she murmured lowly. "I'm sorry about your arm. We can find a way to fix it, and then we can find a way to get rid of the Yellow One. Just trust me. I promised to be your friend and as a friend I have to give you support."
She released him and began walking towards the door, but paused briefly to give a parting message. "I will leave you alone because you seem to have much on your mind. The next time you are ready to deal with me, simply come visit. You know where to find me. I hope you get better."
And with that, she disappeared back into the night from where she came.
