Cleaning Up *

After settling into the mansion that they had conquered in search of the princess, Jyn and the rest of his company were left with a partially destroyed kitchen. On top of that, many of the rooms in the house were overgrown with plant life and worn with age and dust. According to his OCD nature, it wouldn’t set well in the majority of personas within Jyn to live in the place as it was, so with that in mind, various basic housekeeping items were in order that included cleaning up and fixing up the place a little bit. Since the area was so huge, it would have to be a task taken in bites, but it would distract Jyn log enough to stay in one place with a pause in his traveling. With the meeting of the new people that were around him, it was easy for him to get side tracked from the mission he had been in all of his life. Though the original would always be thinking of it, Jyn, Jyneil and the others would have been long since discouraged for the fact that among these many years of walking and searching they hadn’t even come across any indication that the mage from their past was even in this realm.

In settling down in this mansion, Jyn would be thinking about the basics first. They needed a good hunting ground as well as a water source as basic things to live. They had shelter and aside from that, the kitchen would need to be fixed. He didn’t know terribly much about carpentry or anything like that, but he did know about hunting and living off of the land. With the first things first, he managed to secure a hunting ground within the first week of being there. During that time, he met members from two other prominent clans in the area, one with Alicia as the member and the other with Senna; oddly he had a habit of running into females. Also, he had managed to notice that the mansion had a gutter system attached to it, and though he didn’t know what it was for and why it was needed, he did realize that it collected rain water into one place. From there all he had to do was find buckets and receptacles large enough to hold said water when it accumulated. Aside from that, there was a discolored fountain pond in the front yard with water of questionable origins. Jyn knew from other tribes and Meloli’s father that straining water through clothing, boiling it and letting it cool made it safer to drink, so when water was needed from there, that would be how he went about using it.

Jyn busied himself in his spare time by trying to clean off at least the first floor. In the ball room, he was able to clean up the broken glass at the rear of the grand ballroom. Using some clothing found upstairs and pond water, he was able to clean the ballroom floor in the fashion of holding the clothe against the ground with both palms and ‘running’ up and down the ball room in lanes, one pass at a time. His efforts were enough to return the checkered marble to a somewhat decent state. From there, the easiest rooms to tidy up included the library, the game room and the dining room. The veranda, on the other hand, was a huge mess that probably could only be cleaned by burning the room. Still it would have to be something to get taken care of in baby steps. He would be able to clean a bit at a time by hacking away at the parts of the plant that had already started to wilt away and then toss those parts out of the large hole in the side of the room to burn outside later. Still, the large hole in the floor and the structural damage would have to be fixed by a carpenter as well.

Though even with overcoming a place to get food and a place to get water, there was still the issue with the open air kitchen with the crystal in it. Such a daunting task, Jyn knew that he probably wouldn’t be able to fix it without help, so for that, he figured he would have to see about speaking with one who was skilled in building houses to help him with it. In order to do what he wanted to do, Jyn knew that he would have to find a carpenter, and the best places to find those were in villages or clans. Thinking about the various clans that he knew of, it seemed to make more sense if he went to Senna’s clan to ask for assistance. Still, it had been a while since he visited, so he didn’t know if it would be fine to visit and immediately ask for help. Aside from asking for the assistance, he came to the conclusion that he could work for it. Moving on with that idea, he decided that he could seek apprenticeship under a carpenter and maybe learn a few things that could help him fix the kitchen. It was a bit ambition, but it was the most that he could do seeing as he wasn’t rich.

Thinking over his plan to fix the kitchen, he figured he probably would head out and check with other clans. It would be easier to take Yuki with him, so he would wait until the other white haired male was around to move forwards with that. Well, he’d eventually get around to it… probably.
